Laptop Crash Concern (Kernel-Power Source)

Windows 11 Version 25H2
Hi guys. I have a new Lenovo Legion 5 Pro laptop that was purchased this past February. Since March, my laptop has crashed and completely restarted 3 times with no error message or anything. It went black screen, not even the normal blue crash screen (BSOD). I checked event viewer, and it stated that it was a Kernel-Power as source, Event ID 41, with Task Category 63. It says "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly." This is the first time that this type of crash happened on my current laptop and I am wondering if there is a way to find the source of the crash? This happened several times on my previous laptop, and I am concerned since this is now happening on my new laptop. Is this kind of crash well known, and/or common? Is there anything I can do to keep it from happening in future? It would really suck if happened again during a long game session or something worse like during a Windows Update, or even when updating Nvidia Video Drivers. The only thing I think might be a culprit is that I took out both 4TB SSDs from previous laptop to install in my new one. I posted about this on PCGamer forums, and they also think the culprit could be one or both of the SSDs, suggested using a newer driver? Suggested using the nvmedisk.sys driver that is in Windows 11 25H2? I went into device manager, and both of the SSDs are using the disk.sys driver. I did research, and it seems like there are some risks to switching to the newer nvme driver such as not being able to boot into safe mode, and even saw that SSDs could disappear in the OS or not be recognized. Of the 3 Kernel-power crashes that I have had, 2 happened recently: one this week (Yesterday), and one previous week. The third happened back in middle of March. Help GREATLY appreciated :)

I shall put some points forward as I am using the same Lenovo Laptop model(Intel CPU) from about 3 years ago. Using it as supplied including the SSD, Windows installation, plus the usual updates.

1. That error can simply be generated by using the Laptop power switch whilst something is running. Obviously something within the Laptop could disconnect the power e.g. battery connector plug.
A mains power cut may cause that but not always.

2a. You have replaced the manufacturers SSDs with ones from another Laptop of unknown hardware. I would never do that, even clean installs have problems, never mind from some unknown hardware.
From your posts on the other forum that Laptop also had similar symptoms.

2b. Did you have OEM Lenovo firmware on the original SSD, mine certainly does (Micron), also it seems that the SSD size is limited to 2 TB ?, that could of course change.
Lenovo tends to say 1TB because those are the options they supply. I checked on mine and concluded that it was 2 TB according to others that had added a 2nd SSD drive.
If they have OEM firmware then you cannot update with the SSD manufacturers firmware. The respective SSD Manufacturers App will show this. Micron/Crucial Storage Executive for mine. Images attached.

2c. I would not use nvmedisk.sys, seems it would likely make things worse for next to zero gain.

3. Reliability Monitor
"Isin't that related to my Nvidia RTX 5060 Graphics Card in laptop? "
Not necessarily, it could just be that the Nvidia graphics were being used at the time of power interruption for example. It is the laptop version on the MOBO along with MUX switches in this type of Laptop.

I used to get such things 'hardware error' on mine occasionally but Lenovo system updates via Windows updates and others, seems to have sorted it, nothing like that in Reliability Monitor for at least 3 months or so.

4. It would still be in warranty if it was as supplied, but not with what you have done to it.

Thank you so much for the info! Um, what do you suggest I do? I took the SSDs out of the other laptop as they were larger capacity than what it originally came with. One of the SSDs is Crucial brand, other I am not sure. I still have the SSD that came with my Legion, but it is only 1TB in size. Also, should I install optional Updates for Windows 11 (Windows Update>Advanced Options>Optional Updates)? Currently, there is 1 available (Lenovo System Driver Update 26.5.0.21). Further help appreciated :)

what do you suggest I do?
I suggest you put back in the SSD that came with the Laptop, then test for at least a month.
Do all the updates, these are the basics when you get a new Laptop.

Should not need to, but an option is to get the Recovery Media downloadable from Lenovo for your specific Laptop, there are numerous hoops like serial number to get that.

should I install optional Updates for Windows 11 (Windows Update>Advanced Options>Optional Updates)? Currently, there is 1 available (Lenovo System Driver Update 26.5.0.21). Further help appreciated
Lenovo System updates - 4 on mine since Sept 2025, always in Optional updates. I always do them. There were a lot more previous to that but that is as far as current history goes.

Only once you have tried and tested the original Laptop configuration, later on just try to install an empty 4 TB SSD if needed and is supported.

No idea why you need such large SSD drives, I would have thought a Desktop PC would be the way to go, or external storage like a NAS or whatever.
