Possibly, its certainly close to original. What I do when I want to find the original specs of a PC is look it up on the OEM support site, if possible, or on reviews sites if not. Here's the closest I could find.....Is this a factory configuration or has someone done some sort of upgrade nothing showing on Internet Thanks
Yes — that exact combination could be a factory configuration. It’s not typical, but it absolutely existed on some HP Envy models.
What official specs show
HP’s own documentation for at least one Envy model with that CPU lists:
That is essentially a match to the sticker in your photo.
- Intel i7-6500U
- 12GB RAM (4GB + 8GB)
- 2TB HDD
- NVIDIA graphics, DVD drive, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Windows 10
Why it looks unusual
Even though it existed, it feels suspicious because:
- Many Envy models shipped with 8GB RAM + 1TB HDD as the common baseline
- 12GB RAM is a less common “mixed” configuration (4GB + 8GB), so people often assume it’s an upgrade
- 2TB drives were optional high-capacity variants, not standard on most listings
What this means for the OP’s question
- The specs on that label are plausible as a factory configuration
- HP sold multiple regional/SKU variants, so you won’t always find an exact match online
- It does NOT automatically mean it was upgraded
The realistic conclusion
So the only definitive way to tell is:
- Could be factory: Yes (confirmed by HP spec sheets)
- Could also be upgraded: Also yes — RAM and HDD are both easily upgradeable
- Check the exact model number (e.g., 15-aeXXX, 15-asXXX)
- Or inspect the hardware (RAM sticks / drive model)
