Laptop shuts down after a few hours

Ever since I performed a clean reinstall of Windows 11, my laptop refuses to stay on until I want it to shut down, even when plugged in. I discovered this when I left my computer on overnight to monitor my internet connection, but when I came down the next morning, it had turned itself off somewhere between 1.00 & 2.00 AM. It's done it a few times since then. I'm uploading a screenshot of my power settings in case that helps.Screenshot - 11_11_2023 , 11_13_50.png

All the keyboard lights are off and I have to press the power button to restart the computer.

I think I may have found the answer. After following your advice, I discovered this setting:

You don't give any details on your machine. Does your machine support S3 sleep or is it a Modern Standby device.

Terminal (admin) command

powercfg -a

to show states.

Are you sure it just isn't hibernating. ( Looks very much like a power on when starting.)

Quick test but this will disable Fast Startup. Easy enough to reverse.

To a Terminal (Admin) ( or command prompt (admin) )

powercfg -h off

Let it sit unused for longer than 3 hours (normal hibernate default value)

To reenable after test

Powercfg -h on

This will bring back fast startup.

As I was reading your topic I was thinking is it shutting down or just Hibernating? Looks like you might have found the answer further down in your topic. Let us know.
