Good morning / afternoon folks.
Cool morn, feel nice.
My Wife is in the hospital. Got in just barely.
Apparently the way it works is the ER doc has to submit all the medical facts and then someone (or someone's) review the case, decide if insurance will cover it (probably the biggest factor here), and decide if there is actually a medical necessity for the patient to be admitted.
Used to be if a doc said you need to be in the hosp, they would be admitted. But my doc as well as my Wife's doc told us that the hospital stripped them of that right a couple years ago.
The gastro doc understands that it will be impossible for her to do the cleansing & then get her to the hosp for the colonoscopy she needs that is overdue by 10 years. She says she has had similar cases in the past couple years & tried everything to get them admitted to get it done, she has had no luck.
So I'm going to see her & have a talk with the provider to try to convince him/her to do it while she's there. Fingers crossed.
Nothing but bureaucracy & damn red tape in the medical system today, I swear.
Fortunately (well, I think it was a good thing), she had a big movement in the ER & the nurse & staff got to see the problem we are dealing with. my Wife was upset & crying that it happened, but they were able to get the sample they wanted & I was able to get one & run it over to the lab with the many tests the gastro doc ordered. (I think it was 7 pages for all the tests,)
Anyway, glad she got in & I hope & pray they find the solution. It's been really rough on both of us.
