Back in 2010 when this car was new I'd take it to my local VW dealer for servicing. That was a 3 mile walk home (4.8km) - and up hill too for the first part, rising some 305ft (93m). The walk back to pick it up was a lot easier - downhill for the last half(y)

In 2017 when it was well out of warranty I switched to using a local garage that I knew and trusted. Of course we didn't have heatwaves like this back then so the walk was quite pleasant (unless it rained).

If i turn back the clock to the mid 90's.. i used to go out for a run 5km 6 days a week....... now i will be happy if i have the energy to even walk 1km. 😅

I ended up in an emergency i need a modern windows.... NOW!!! .... as they just dropped support(July 1st) for my digital ID card software on win8.1 platform.

first attempt on modifying worked.
Now its some finetuning and rip out Edge that didn't get removed even i did remove it from the install.wim.
So here is the good question where our beloved @Brink have hide the guide of uninstall edge. 😁

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    Info for 2021-2026:
    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

Looks like tonight's fireworks might be put on hold as we're expecting storms.

Well, I still got the cough & the rumble in the lungs, I know it's going to take another day or 2 for the AB to kick in, at least I hope so. Been a dry cough with nothing really coming up. Nose is runny. The cough is somewhat in check thanks to the cough med he gave me (Benzonatate).

I'm just hoping it goes away soon, tired of being sick, this makes week 2 I've been sick & I could use a break. Plus having to take care of my Wife while I'm like this isn't easy.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    Info for 2021-2026:
    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

It is hard taking care of her when I'm sick, let alone myself.

According to what I read I have to wait 6 hours after I take my AB to take my multi vit as the one I'm taking has negative interactions if I take it too soon. The last couple days I was waiting 1 - 2 hrs after to took it, so hopefully this will help somehow speed up the healing now that I know that fact.

Yeah.. half way anyway... win10 IoT LTSC for now, as i faster can tame that beast without AI and crap.
The win11 LTSC will take some more time thogh as i have a lot more to rip out on that one. 😒

Edit: I have a question for you, that have played with win10 and VM's
I know from win 10 you could move a system disk from one computer to a totally different computer(different hardware) without getting a blue screen.. this was not possible on win7 and 8 i think.
If i have installed a win10 on a VM (QEMU) virtbox is probibly the same... and i clone that to a disk and then put in a laptop.
Do you think the install will survive without bluescreen on boot?
I do this on Linux, but i know the key difference in win VS Linux is that all drivers are in the kernel on linux, while windows install the drivers during install.
