We don't have a lawn...which is a good thing considering our hill is at about a 55 degree angle. There's these big plants that come up every year that seem to keep the weeds in check around them. However, I do still have to go out there 2X a year & spray any new trees that are trying to get a start. Can't tell you how many times I've nearly lost my footing & tumbled down the hill.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    Info for 2021-2026:
    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

Good afternoon Marie.

They say time is money, but when you are retired like me the exchange rate is a lot more flexible.

The days spent configuring the laptop cost hardly anything, they were spent for fun. The hours spent recovering from near-disaster cost me dearly, especially as I had no idea if it was even possible at first. That's 8+ hours of my life I'll never get back.....

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    Info for 2021-2026:
    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

noooooo can she be stubborn... i have never-ever heard that before. 😁 *lol*
But stubbornness can also be a good thing... if used as a motivation :-) I use that on my bad days... I was out running errands today, so now i will get my three TKO-days :cautious: and i do not look forward to that... But my stubbornness will take me thru them so i can try make the time go until it starts to turn around on Tuesday again. :-)

The days spent configuring the laptop cost hardly anything, they were spent for fun. The hours spent recovering from near-disaster cost me dearly, especially as I had no idea if it was even possible at first. That's 8+ hours of my life I'll never get back.....

The positive side when things go bad and you dont know if you will solve it or not.... is in the end you always end up with some new knowledge :-)
I only like to dive in on big project that is over my head... only new challenges is fun nowadays. :-)
when it comes to normal computer stuff, i just hate it.... no mater if its windows or Linux..:rolleyes:
Sadly i cant continue on my fun projects as i dont have time for them at the moment... packing, packing and packing is what every single energy-minute goes too. :cautious:

Well I certainly got more than my fair share of that last night! Paying for it now though, a mild case of TKO for me today... 😩
In the end though I was quite pleased with myself for finding a solution that avoided major hardware surgery.
