    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to lid hinges starting to break up this laptop has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    I've now clean installed 25H2 and used Garlin's scripts to update Secure Boot to CA 2023 and revoke the PCA 2011 certificates. It's new role is to test secure boot issues.

    Info for 2021-2026:
    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

The trend now is to use USB-C chargers. They are universal, any brand works with any laptop and the charger adapts to provide whatever voltage the device asks for. I have two USB-C laptops now, my Dell Latitude 5550 and the Lenovo T580 (which actually came with an HP USB-C charger). As I generally don't use both laptops at the same time I just leave the Dell charger plugged in and use that for either laptop (and to charge my phone, or any of my other USB-C devices).

I have two HP standing back to back just a few years apart, but they have different adapters.

I have had two or three OEM chargers die on me. I've always bought a universal charger as a replacement. They come with about a dozen different tips, so I can charge almost any laptop now :-)

Well, you can get them at most doctors offices if you ask for it when you have a visit for something or another, but with the pharms around here, you walk up, fill out a paper & wait for them to come out & give you the shot. Usually not too long of a wait, but yesterday had mitigating circumstances. (the closure on Mon for the holiday)

The way it works here is that everyone eligible for a free NHS flu jab is invited by letter, email, or text message to book an appointment through the NHS national booking system. For children and pregnant women they have been able to book appointments from 1st September. For over 65's and any adult in a clinical risk group it's from 1st October. My appointment is at my doctor's but it could have been at a pharmacy too.

If you're on Medicare the shot is free, I think for most kids also if you're on certain programs. Most insurances do cover it from what I've heard.

I remember as a kid in grade school they would send letters home to parents telling them on a certain day they would be vaccinating kids for various things, the parents had to check off which immunizations the kids had gotten already & check mark the ones they wanted them to get.

Was done with needles. For a while they were doing it with an air gun type injector. A puff of air sent the vaccine into the skin. It left a small star shaped scar on your arm. They used to do that in the armed services also. You got in line, took a step forward, you got a shot, took another step forward, got another shot.
