DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line. I also cut the phone line a long time ago and am cell phone only.
With DSL I was only able to get 50 megabits. With fiber, I get the bottom of what they sell, which is 300 megabits I can get a gigabit but it is not needed.

Well, call us old fashioned but we prefer the landline. Like I said, isolated area, looked up the stats for our area, only 24% of the area has 5G coverage. Most of the area is filled with "dead zones" when it comes to cell signals.

Dry today, and starting to see a bit more sun for the afternoon.

For deliveries I'm spoilt for choice. There's a parcel point at my local shop, just a few hundred yard up the road. They are a collection point for Amazon, DHL, Evri and InPost. They are also a sending point too, which is useful now I've started selling a few things on eBay. Royal Mail is the only one that I still have to get delivered to my door, but for sending I can scan small packages into the system at a post box 50 yards from my door, or for larger parcels at my nearest post office, less than a mile away.

Yeah, all depends on a few things, how she feels & hopefully she doesn't have any "accidents."

they have good food there, although I'm staying away from the fries from this point on. They air fry everything (more healthy) & they just don't taste right, & they tend to sit in my stomach for a while.

Did I say this month? I meant next month. We return to GMT on Sunday, 25 October 2026 at 2:00 am.

I need to be careful not to sleep in too late as we approach the shortest day, in years past I have been known to not rise until after sunset. Leaving the curtains open is a relatively painless way to keep resetting my body clock and stop it drifting too much

Living in an urban centre usually means way more options for shipping / receiving. The Staples near us acts as a drop off and receive point if you so choose. The big services like UPS have their own shops and we have a real post office branch.

If you are returning something to amazon you print a QR code and take the item to Staples. No boxes, packaging or anything. They put a label on the item and throw it in a bin.

I think every major service drives by my house every day. Some days I see Fed Ex twice and Amazon you can't count. They come by 4:00 am, mid day and the evening and some one ofs. Crazy.

Today i got my parts i had ordered, so i have just made me a 10 centimeter(4inch'ish) extension cord to my car battery, as i had to put in the wrong battery and had to twist it 180degrees to get + and - on the right side, but the battery terminals is pointing forward instead of inward, so i have to run the cables over the battery.. and the + cable was to short for that trick... so i had to make a temporary extension cord that can take the amps.
Its just a temporary solution to move the car, so this hack will do for now.

I dont know the exact date.. i know its the night between Saturday/Sunday at 2AM

Yeah, I was getting a bit ahead of myself

We're the same date as you, the last Sunday of October. Our friends across the Pond change on the first Sunday in November.

When I switched from copper to fibre I also switched my landline number to VOIP, mainly so I didn't have to work out which of my friends and/or government or hospital departments only had my landline as a contact number
