I forsee the 4070 Ti Super to be a big seller. Although the price is still a little high.

New to the forum--please be gentle.... :-)

I'm fooling around with a somewhat aged Inspiron 24 5475 AIO. Thanks largely to help I found on this site, I installed Win11 easily enough (despite its "not supported" status due to the CPU not being whitelisted), but the AMD Radeon R7 Graphics 9874 driver is giving me fits. I've put Win11 on a separate physical drive (SSD), with the HDD temporarily removed for the purpose. The Radeon works fine (is still working fine) on the Win10 installation on the HDD.

Every driver that Windows tries to install does nothing (shows "error 43"). Virtually every driver I've manually tried does the same thing, including those from the AMD site. The working driver currently on the Win10 drive is 27.20.20903.8001--but that throws error 43 on the Win11.

The drivers from the Dell site for the 5475 (either manually downloaded or via SupportAssist / Command Update) don't work and disable the system--I get a black screen, and the only way to recover that I've found so far is to boot into Safe Mode and roll back or otherwise delete the driver. I've taken to using DDU between each attempt, since I gather AMD software is sloppy.

I know for certain fact that it's workable: I hit the magic combo once, largely by accident, from browsing the Microsoft Catalog. I then made the mistake of doing a clean install without exporting the driver set... and lost it. (Yes, I am that dumb.)

Has anyone successfully installed Win11 on this or a similar machine? What driver did you use?

Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome to 11Forums.
What you have there is essentially a mobile version of AMD APU processor with graphics integrated in CPU therefore you should look for APU driver.
Maybe you should look for it here

Hi and welcome to 11Forums.
What you have there is essentially a mobile version of AMD APU processor with graphics integrated in CPU therefore you should look for APU driver.
Maybe you should look for it here

Thanks for the (very!) quick reply. This specific one installed 27.20.20913.2000, which I'd already tried. "Error 43" :(

You've given me an additional consideration, though: I guess the AIO nature of this machine makes it more of a laptop than a desktop for this purpose--I hadn't been looking at it that way. I'll broaden my search....

Happy for any other ideas!!

You may also want to look at chipset drivers as chipsets are connection to graphics and other PCIe connected devices. Runtime libraries like c+ and .NET are also involved.

Well, I've taken the "best" update to those that Dell, AMD, and Windows all agree on (i.e., none claim they have a newer/better driver). Windows seems happy, insofar as nothing is flagged except for the display adapter.

Are you suggesting the issue could be not with the display adapter at all, but with chipset drivers? I'm even less versed in figuring out the "right" one for that than I am w/ the graphics card....

Thanks for the help. I'm getting close to the step in my troubleshooting tree which reads, "take computer to nearest lake & hurl in"....

You could try the auto detect tool,

Good thought, but I've already tried it (mutliple times). Depending on the status of the currently-installed driver, it either installs an "error 43" version or a "black screen" (less common) version....

Thanks anyway--keep the brainstorming coming!! :)

This driver is dated July 14 2020 and was the last driver released just for Windows 10 . Sometimes going back a few drivers works. No harm in trying that one.

Just scroll down a bit for the Win 10 download link.

Just for info I use the AMD cleanup Utility rather than DDU for AMD.

Thanks! I'll try that one next!

Yep--I've actually been using the AMD Cleanup *and* the DDU. "Belt *and* suspenders"...! :)

I'm fooling around with a somewhat aged Inspiron 24 5475 AIO. [...]

So, I ran a small utility I found, CPUID CPU-Z. I ran it under Win10 (working) and Win11 (not working). There are some small differences in the "Graphics" section of each--I don't know if it's meaningful, or simply the result of Win11 not running the driver because of "error 43"? I do note that both reflect the same driver version (27.20.20903.8001).

Extracted here. Note there are two "Graphic APIs" not reflected on the Win11 install. I'm not even clear on what that is--should I focus my efforts on this...??

Tried--no dice ("error 43").

This AMD update corresponds to & installed the MS Catalog update 27.20.2001.9003. Turns out, that's one I've already tried. Thanks anyway for the pointer!
