It seems from an Intel post I have seen, they tend to recommend using the latest Vendor customised Drivers, rather than the latest from Intel. However, they tend to be very slow in getting known bugs fixed, hence the tendency to use the latest, or some BETA levels as seen here sometimes.

I think that Asus, Dell, and Lenovo and a few others customise them to suit any hardware tweaks they add to the Intel AXxxx adapters. Anyway, I am using latest version 23.130.1.1 on my Asus VivoBook X712EA, and it seem to be working well.

I used to see a few sporadic bunches of 6062 (LSO Triggered) warnings in the Event log, now I only see the ONE error created during reboot (possibly a capability test during booting, via the Microsoft wifidatacapabilityhandler.dll). To stop the other warnings if you are getting them:

In the Advanced Settings for the adapter, I have disabled:

  • MIMO Power Save Mode (changed to No SMPS)
  • NS Offload for WoWLAN (Disabled)
  • Sleep on WoWLAN Disconnect (Disabled)
  • Throuput Booster (Disabled) *cannot remember if this was the default.
  • U-APSD Support (Disabled) *This might be the default, ensure it is disabled.
  • Wake-on-pattern match (Disabled)
NOTE: I always have the last one disabled on ANY WiFi or LAN adapter, as it can otherwise create a random wake from sleep. Many Realtek adapters have this on as default too.
