Hmm. Looking at the MB forums, I don't see it released.

Furthermore, the only mention of that build is in a post by an Honorary Member, who had the "Enable Beta updates' setting enabled in the 5.0.12.68 build. That Honorary member also said that the new build does not have a Beta tag on it, but it could be a simple development build, because there is no mention of it being released publicly yet.

I sent a PM to AdvancedSetup to make sure, and I see 1PW is lurking here too, so we'll know shortly.

No Malwarebytes devs/staffers/management have yet published anything, anywhere, that would lead the public to accept MB5 for Windows as an official release. Furthermore, the official Malwarebytes download URLs fail to yield a MB5 offline installer or a MB5 stub installer as documented at Malwarebytes Support, and/or Malwarebytes Forums.

Personally, and IMHO, even though MB5 is coming along quite nicely, an indeterminate amount of time is still needed before a release will officially be announced. Additionally, the lack of the usual Beta_Preview designation may have been a regrettable oversight.

We've replaced the “(Beta)” label with the current version.
The “Feedback” button in the top header has been removed, but fear not! You can still visit the “About Malwarebytes” page and click “Give feedback” to open our forums.
For Free and Trial states, we've swapped the “Upgrade” button on the side navbar with a new “Buy now” button in the header.
There's a fresh notification style and updated icons.

Bug Fixes:

Fixed a bug where attempting to open the UI while the Tamper Protection password dialog was displayed would prevent the UI from showing up.
Addressed a bug that caused two Malwarebytes tray icons to appear until hovered over after applying an update.
Multiple translation fixes.
Various crash fixes.

EDIT: The original announcement's MB5 version number has been corrected to 5.0.12.72

I suspected as much, especially as Brad's post mentioned both that he had Beta updates enabled, and that the build he got did not have the Beta branding.

Important Note: We're reintroducing the Beta channel to better distinguish between "Release" and "Beta" builds. To access the latest Beta builds, please enable the "Beta updates" switch under Settings -> General. If you prefer a more stable (though slightly older) MB5 build, you can leave it disabled.

The version you have is most likely a beta version ....same version #

Change logs are a few days behind lately.
If you are 4.6.3 you should be able to check for updates manually in the program.

If you are on 4.6.2, Good chance you will have to run the installer over what you have. Thank you for downloading Malwarebytes for Windows | Malwarebytes

I ask this question because I don't know and have never known this answer, do we really need MB with Windows Defender? Yes! some of us are still in the learning mode in life.

My personal view: They have different databases and they accomplish different things. I have seen MWB catch things WD missed, and vice-versa. They work together without problems. MWB Premium ups the protection game, and runs all the time in the background with no great drain on resources. MWB Free is only for on-demand scans, but it works.

Additionally, since they are differently-focused products, when you have MB Premium, you can still set up Windows Defender to perform periodic scanning on its own if you allow MB to integrate into Windows Security.

Additionally, there is a doc floating around on the MB forums as to how to get the two to play really well with each other, so they don't step on each others toes. I'll ask if the new MB 5 does this automatically or not.

It's easy as pie. Open Settings (the gear) in MWB, go to the Security tab, scroll down to Windows Security Center, and move the slider for Always register ... to the left (OFF). WD will spring to life and its icon will show the green check mark (if you have the icon showing; if not, there's a tut here for enabling the WD tray icon), and from them on, MWB will run constantly, WD will run periodic scans, and each (both) will look at suspicious things downloaded or opened. Happy couple. Both icons sit in the tray to tell you all's well.
