Hello @The-Hive

As that particular identification field is only best used internally within the in-house Malwarebytes teams, it's likely best if it's not routinely used in a public setting for the sake of clarity. I know - looking for Easter eggs is fun though. In public, Malwarebytes staffers would seem to prefer using the fine-grained "component package" definition e.g. CU 1.0.1689, and not ordinarily the build number.

However, you've made a keen observation in that the much larger off-line installer is always republished with each release of MB4. Yet the so-called, and much smaller, stub installer may not require a mandatory update. Such was the case yesterday.

Thank you always for your understanding.
I just saw it on another website and thought it would be of interest to MB users, no idea about Easter eggs or component packages etc.

I just saw it on another website and thought it would be of interest to MB users, no idea about Easter eggs or component packages etc.

This is a very common misconception. 1653674366204.png

is just the online installer version and does not represent the actual program version. We see a lot of inquiry’s on this subject each time sites like Majorgeeks and others like them post the information.

Malwarebytes has gone off the rails again - now blocking google docs....absolutely ridiculous, I really do think we need to have a serious discussion if we should carry on recommending this software!

Was just about to give it another chance but stopped when I read your message. The last time I tried it, it made my my VPN (hide.me either stop working or very slow). I hate Antivirus which as crap that messes up with my internet like an HTTP scanner or whatnot. This is one of the reasons I use F-Secure antivirus, all I need is my uBlock origin adblocker + a good file scanner and nothing to touch my internet.

I stopped using MB about six months ago, it use to be lightweight, fast & reliable but now it has succumb to the pitfall all once great products do. They think they need to keep adding & adding trying to make it everything to everyone instead of sticking to what made it great in the first place.

Every release note includes "Improved Performance"...according to them it should be the fastest thing on the internet by now.

That is odd.

Honestly, I don't know why, Rod.

Perhaps @Porthos or @1PW, could lend you a word.

So, MB just updated to 4.5.10.200 and now I have 2 versions of Browser Guard installed. If I remove the one MB installed from Chrome Store, then my MB dashboard tells me that I don't have it installed. I am hesitant to remove the older one from MS Store because that' where all my current settings live. Which one is the real Browser Guard?
