How the Windows 11 Server and IoT edition will be? Do you know something?

Windows server 2022... bruh, i dont actully understand this version, the same thing as 2019. Do you think they will update to look more such Windows 11 UI?

What do IT-admins think about Windows 11 and about decommissioning/discarding good and powerful computers that do not fit the requirements (at least because of the TPM 2.0, really problem for laptops)?

First, I suspect that many large organizations who are on Win 10 won't be in any hurry to jump to 11 because they still have several more years of Win 10 support.

However, I suspect that this is going to be a big deal to companies who are still on Windows 7 extended support. Since they will need to go through a hardware and software refresh soon anyway (I believe Win 7 extended support expires early 2023) the timing is perfect for them to skip right past Win 10 and go to Win 11 since they now have over a year to evaluate it before the Win 7 extended support drop dead date.

So, if you think about it, I think that Win 11 may actually be a bigger deal to these companies that to those on Win 10 right now.

Hi there

the latest Windows Server version is currently W2K23 (Win 2023 Server) available for trial download - but last time I tried it was in a dreadful state -- you couldn't activate it --even though it was a publically available download trial - so no personalisation, and you couldn't install openssh server on it (needed if you are RECEIVING files from Windows on Non Windows devices). So a server with very limited functions and one that cannot SERVE files properly seems a bit of a waste of time. Ms may have updated the W2K23 trial - I'm not really minded to test this any more. Most organisations I know are still getting to grips with W2K19 server which has Long term support so they won't be rushing into any changes.

That said a lot of enterprises - not always big ones either are moving also to AZURE and other cloud providers to provide their Virtual desktop infrastructure for their users so the whole idea of a W11 based Windows server might not become a practical reality even if it's being developed behind closed doors at Ms.

For desktops and workstations in the workplace / provided by your work W11 Enterprise though is running very nicely with the latest build of W11 (upgradeable from W10 enterprise via VL / your work's licensing servers).

Cheers
jimbo
