Solved Local Group Policy Editor starts with error messages

OS: Windows 11 24H2 Beta Insider Channel build 26120.4733 (clean install 13 days ago)

When opening the Local Group Policy I am getting error messages like these below, then the editor starts. There is only one GPO I've configured, that is the one to stop Windows Update updating drivers.

I've run sfc and dism commands, showed nothing amiss
Searched online, found nothing.

Any ideas what this is about and how to fix? Thanks in advance.

Not without looking at the template, I would just update them, that will likely fix the issue

ADMX and ADML files are just templates. They have no bearing to the actual OS underneath. You can actually copy whatever templates you want (for the wrong version of Windows), and they'll still create a local policy file. Whether that policy actually does anything on this build is another matter.

You have two possibilities:
- 26120.4733 shipped with corrupted template files for Desktop (or your image was corrupted)
- Group Policy Editor or one of its DLL's is corrupted

One way to test the template theory is simply copy Desktop.admx & .adml to another Windows machine, and rename them something else like Test.admx & Test.adml. If the XML is broken, GPE on the other system will have the same problem opening the files.

UPDATE

This error has been fixed today in the Cumulative Update Release Preview build 26100.4767. Verified on my laptop.
The issue is still present on my desktop build 26120.4733.

Hopefully MS apply the fix to the nest beta channel update.
