lock screen password

Hello,
I don't seem to be able to find the setting regarding my lock screen password. My Computer makes me change it every few months. I'd like to be the one to decide when and if I do that. I get a few pop ups asking me if I want to change it, but when I click on the note, the note disappears rather than taking me to the settings.

Are you not confident to try this?

  • Go to search, type CMD (command prompt) and open the result by right clicking on it and running as admin.
  • Click on the following box (it will copy to your clipboard) and paste (keyboard shortcut for paste is Ctrl+v) the command into the CMD window and press enter

wmic UserAccount set PasswordExpires=False​

  • Let it finish.
Borrowed this from Brink. it will look similar (the command is different though) to the following when done. It’s a quick process:​

  • Close the CMD window.

Everything should be Honky Dory.​

It should not be asking for password to change as a rule unless it was set up under a group policy.

Are you part of a domain i.e. a school or work account?

right click start button > computer management > local users and groups > your username > password never expires

check that box, apply. wont prompt you to change it again (unless this is a work pc, in which case GPO will override that settings and make you change it in accordance with the timeframe pushed via policies)
