I would like for the Windows 11 on my laptop to always lock as soon as I close the laptop lid. In other words: I would like that after I have closed the lid and opened it again Windows always requires you to log in again using password or biometrics. However at the same time I would also like for the laptop to not automatically go into sleep mode or shut down when closing the lid.

Is there a way to configure this?

Hello, :alien:

Not sure for just when you close the lid with it set to Do Nothing, but you could take a look at the tutorial below to automatically lock the computer after a specified time of inactivity.

download Laplock.exe
create a shortcut to it (you can place the exe wherever you want)
paste the shortcut in Shell:Startup (so it runs when you boot)

will lock pc when you close the lid or the screen turns off. its 33kb, portable and has no impact when running.

Check out the suggested answer here:

So the solution given suggested there is:

This ensures that your laptop asks for a password when you open the lid:
  1. Open Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options.
  2. Scroll down to If you’ve been away, when should Windows require you to sign in again?
  3. Select Every time from the dropdown menu.
Now, your PC will require a password every time you open the lid.

However on my machine the selection menu for the option "If you’ve been away, when should Windows require you to sign in again?" is disabled. So unfortunately this solution doesn't work for me.
