Logitech G502 Hero Mouse Question

Does the Logitech Hero Wired mouse just show up in Device Manager as HID-Compliant Mouse?
Uses only the Microsoft mouse drivers?
It appears that an actual Logitech driver for this mouse does not exist.
Most mice are listed by their name and specific driver in device manager.
Thank You

Yes.
Yes.
Probably,
Sometimes.
You're welcome.

The second question is better answered by many hardware makers submit driver information to Microsoft for inclusion in the Operating System.

I frequently that when working on clients' computer and when I use a Logitech/Logi mouse. Most times I use a Bluetooth mouse.

The Logi I've seen are what they call Unifying devices, keyboard and mouse come as a set and use the same USB dongle.

Lose the dongle for the Logitech mouse or keyboard, throw away the mouse or keyboard, they are matched only to the dongle they came with.

When I plug in the G502 three HID-compliant mouse show up in Device Manager.
They are from Microsoft dated 2006.

When I plug in the Razer there is a single Device Manager driver that says
Razer Basilisk V3.

Very disappointed that Logitech does not even have drivers for their own mouse.
If one existed I am sure it would be available for download somewhere.

Both are USB wired mice.

Does this seem normal?

Thanks again.

I get a similar thing with my M500s corded mouse, but I have a single entry rather than 3. If I look at the details for the HID device, it is stated to be from Logitech. I don't use any of their software. But I'm not using a classy gaming mouse.

Setpoint may be their latest software to configure your mouse settings.

Logitech is software focused, as bobkn mentions, there is logitech software for the Hero. I am not sure why the mose being named in the device manager would make the slightest difference.

Go to support at the Logitech site, look up your mouse, download the latest G-Hub software.

Or go here, scroll down and click “Support”

You can configure profiles for the Logitech Hero, I have one (or two, can’t remember) you can use profiles via the software or you can save profiles to the on-board memory of the Hero. Then if you like, remove the software, or not. User preference really.

@Elgato54
I have a G502, but I do not recall if it is the Hero version or not. I have had several G502's over the years and I believe the latest one I have and I am using is the Hero. Unfortunately, it is not marked as such, it just states G502 on the bottom of the mouse.

Anyhow, for me, it shows a single entry under Mice and other pointing devices in Device Manager that states: HID-compliant mouse.

The Logitech software, G-Hub, simply controls the RGB functions, mouse sensitivity etc... There is no driver for this mouse or for my G213 Keyboard.

Edit: I found the invoice for the G502 and it is a G502 Proteus, not the Hero and I've had it since May 2018 (longer than I thought ... lol). There is very little difference between the two externally though.

The Logitech software, G-Hub, simply controls the RGB functions, mouse sensitivity etc...
Plus the 10 (possibly 11) clickable mouse button configurations/functions. With multiple configurations via profiles.

No, none of the buttons are configurable in G-Hub. You can configure them in games etc. though.

What you are looking at in that image is keyboard key assignments not mouse button assignments.

I know I have checked. I'm sure that my earlier mice had configurable buttons, but not the Proteus or it might simply be the latest G-Hub software, which is not that good if you ask me ... lol

lol no Trumpy, again, I own one. I have my G502 hero buttons with various assignment over 5 profiles. I don’t understand what it is in that screenshot that says anything which would make you say “Keyboard” I don’t even own a logitech keyboard. It is GHUB, designed to configure you Hero 502 keys. Like it says at the top of the software.

The new software is pretty intense. Massive amount of options to assign to keys, 5 different profiles for the mouse, 3 I believe onboard. Macro’s, Windows system commands, keyboard shortcuts, you can assign anything to a button.

Just drag an option from the left of the page, drop it onto a mouse button.

Plenty of videos via Google if you want to know more.
Personally, I assign the onboard profiles and more often than not, uninstall the software after the fact. I am not a fan of Logitechs new software scope, almost seems like a different software for every mouse, very messy.

The Proteus only has 3 profiles unfortunately, not that I have ever used them.

All this time, I have tried dragging the assignments onto the keys and none of them were accepted, little red circle crossed out. I did not know 'till just now, that you had to drop them in the circles ... lol

Yeah, like I said, messy. Over complicated, overloaded. I have a few Logitch mice. I also have The MX Master S, which is a different software again. Nobody knows better than @Edwin, I believe he owns three Mx Masters (And probably others)

I still don’t know why they can’t just have a singular software with device pages for each product? Like they used to. Maybe Microsoft owns Logitech but we just don’t know it 😂

That's a possibility ... lol

I think my issue was exacerbated by the fact that the assignment hovers above the mouse pointer and unless you get the mouse pointer directly above the circle it just wont accept it.

I'm like you though, I unload G-Hub as soon as I am finished with it. I mostly only use it when the LED lightning on the keyboard is lost and I need to restore it.

And thanks for putting me straight, if you hadn't prompted me I would never have found the answer to the missing button assignments.

Not that it helps me, I don't use them in any case, but it is nice to know they are there and I can finally use them if I want to ... lol

Yep, Logitech software is often way too convoluted and glitchy!
I constantly have glitches with Options+, mouse freeze, or scroll wheel only stops working...

Logitech Flow is really dickered at the moment, I need to swap channels of both mice just to copy/paste something from my laptop to PC, really screwed up and I haven't bothered to figure out how to sort it out yet!

I don't use G Hub. I gave it a quick look, but though that it was for RGP foo-foos and not for mice. I was mistaken.

The curious thing is why Logitech doesn't push it on the web pages for their mice as a download.
