Solved Looking for a non-rgb keyboard with a volume control

I have a corsair K70 which ripples colors I suppose because it thinks it is cool.

I want a plain single color background always, or maybe no background at all as long as it is visible in dim light.
not ripples and waves at boot or whenever icue thinks it is necessary. Do not want a light show.
I very much like and use the volume control knob.

Else I suppose a way to totally lobotomize the K70 and not use icue. - I can disable icue, set a color, but it still flickers for 5 secs+ several times when starting up. How to stop that?

Any suggestions?

If you apply a solid color to all the keys, save it in the device memory, you can then either disable Icue or uninstall it. Your keyboard, regardless of what you plug it into, will use the color you set. If you're saying the keyboard lights flicker off and on once or twice during boot, that's normal. If you're seeing a ripple or some other effect, that would indicate you don't have anything saved to the keyboard memory.

I have an old Logitech G710+ keyboard as a spare. All white lights and a volume control, mechanical switches and some programmable macro keys. It's a beautiful keyboard and I don't think I will ever part with it. Here's a picture:

There is none of this color wash nonsense, just beautifully lit white legends on the keys and it does have a volume control and media keys. Maybe you could find one on Ebay.

If you like "clicky" keyboards, check out some of the Das Keyboards models. Mine has a volume control, a sleep[ button,. and an ON/OFF for speakers, plus the usual.

Maybe sandblasting? Welding torch? Thermite? Explosives?

only easy way I have ever found to clean a keyboard is buy a new one...


I have got this K70 to only wiggle for 5 secs at startup and then go steady so I will continue to use that for now, that being the cheapest alternative at the moment. My problem was that iCue software.

The flickering lights don't bother me at all on my keyboard.

Oh wait! I don't have any lights. We don't need no stinkin' lights, my fingers know where the keys are. 🤣

Currently I am using the Logitech K540 keyboard. It came with the Logitech MK540 keyboard/mouse combo.

I were you I would simply ignore the flashing lights. If you do then you will probably not even notice it after a time.

That is better than my ASUS TUF Gaming laptop keyboard. The keys have RGB lightning. I despise the changing RGB lights so I have it set to a static white. It only bothers me after the laptop goes the sleep. While it is sleeping the lights continuously flash on and off every second or two. Note I could turn off the lights completely but then the letters on the keys would be black just like the keytops. That would make it very difficult to know which key is which.
Update: I just realized I can change that in ASUS Armoury Crate. I have change it so the keyboard lighting is off while the computer is asleep. I could also turn off the keyboard lighting while the computer is starting up or shutting down but I don't want to do that.

My Logitech G815 has the stupid wash of lights on boot, but it goes away pretty fast. Doesn't bother me unless the Logi software doesn't load properly, which happens fairly frequently. That makes it very hard to type and I have to reboot when it happens.

I need a lighted keyboard because I compute in low light or darkness most of the time. Besides, with the RGB lighting, I can assign important keys a suitable color. And as a plus, it has the quietest mechanical keys of any keyboard I have looked at. Just FYI, I bought the one with the linear keys - no clicky.

Try SENDA wireless Mouse / Keyboard combo -- has vol mute, up, down and both keyboard and mouse have internal battery which is charged from USB charging port -- keyboard single charge lasts months while mouse lasts for at least 2 or 3 depending on how much its used -- from empty charging takes around 2 hrs.
