I'm sending my sincere thanks to Brink for his superb "Windows 11 Installation Assistant"
I used for the Upgrade to Windows 11 from Windows 10. It made the task an absolute breeze!

I'm looking for advice on dealing with an ASUS driver Windows 11 doesn't like:

"A driver cannot load on this device
Driver: AsIO.sys. A security setting is detecting this as a vulnerable driver and blocking it from loading."

My ASUS Z390-P Prime Intel LGA 1151 ATX Motherboard is too old to be listed on the ASUS website and I've poked around enough (Google, Reddit, etc.) to see that it's a common problem.
I have the feeling I don't need it as most comments have been how to delete it.

TIA to all who read this post and those with thoughts/comments.

You could probably uninstall the Asus AI suite to get rid of it.

Also I was able to find your motherboard on the Asus website. It's still listed.

I'm a computer enthusiast so have quite a few systems that I run. More like an advanced hobby.
A search on that driver name gave me this:

So, I have to wonder if disabling Memory Integrity might stop the errors.

NOTE: If you search on Start for "Memory Integrity" it will suggest Core Isolation which is the page where you can enable or disable memory integrity.

I'm going to research some more and let you know if I find anything else.

One possible consideration: sometimes old drivers are retained in the Driver Store, even though they are no longer in use.

Getting rid of one of those requires a bit more effort. I suggest using "pnputil". Note that what you look for is the .inf associated with the driver, rather than the driver itself.

New computer - errors on boot up

NOTE: I see now that there are also other ASUS utils that may use the same file such as Armoury Crate so this could apply to that app as well (if you even have it). I don't see Armoury Crate on the list of downloads for your system, but I thought it worth mentioning just in case :-)

Do what I did. Uninstall AI Suite (Use Revo Uninstaller Free)
Search the C: Drive, using Everything Search to find it and delete it. Or did you try that?

Download Everything 1.4.1.1026 64Bit version.
Search for file, delete all instances

Backup your system first is always a good idea.

AI Suite 3 is quite honestly pretty useless. There are likely other options to achieve whatever you’re using is for?

The straight answer is a wide range of ASUS kernel drivers for their proprietary tools are banned by MS as being vulnerable to exploitation. Starting this year, MS is updating the vulnerable driver list every month to crack down on security risks.

Now you could subvert the policies to allow ASIO.sys, but that wouldn't be in your interest. Just because ASUS isn't doing anything harmful doesn't prevent an attacker from detecting you have a vulnerable driver and exploit a known security hole.

You can try using newer versions of aisuite for newer generation motherboards. That usually works and may have an asio.sys that is not on the block list. For instance I am running arrowlake aisuite on my raptorlake board.

A note though. If you are using fan control in aisuite, they stopped supporting that at some point. I would make a backup first if you are using that feature.

You don't need any ASUS utilities including Armoury Crate.
Remove all of them.

I am not sure that AI SUITE is compatible or would do anything in regards to James’ ASUS Z390-P Motherboard. Maybe Fan Control?
Asus got into the habit of removing compatibility for older boards, for whatever illogical reasoning they have.

Consensus advises me to just get rid of the driver which I will do after I decided the best route to take. Thanks to antspants on Revo Uninstaller (I have the paid version) and good to know that is one solution.
Re: Fan speed, I just checked my SSD & HDD temperatures and they are normal.
Backup! Yes always and more often if anything worries me. I recently I paid Macrium the "3 years for the 2 years" price Of Reflect X. :)

I'll mark this "Solved"; if anyone has more to add please send a DM.

My simple advice is not to install any useless Asus bloatware which installs such drivers.

That hasn't been true for some time now. But they do break compatibility every once and a while. I have had many generations of Asus boards. Gen 1, 2, 4, 7, 8, 10, 13.

I was getting the same error every time I did a Insider Canary build update. I would just click on don't show again. Then I found out I didn't need the driver and deleted it. I haven't had any problem with the computer not having the driver.
