Just for accuracy, TechSmith has said it would honor legacy maintenance pricing for AT LEAST five years but it hasn't said they wouldn't do it for longer or how they would transition pricing at that point. There are no plans to double or triple pricing overnight at any point. (I work for TechSmith).

Also if you just needed screen recording, there is now a 100% free online Camtasia online product as well. It doesn't have annotations yet but neither do some other suggestions here and new functionality is being added regularly.

First, welcome to ElevenForum!

I apologize for the bluntness, but please don't gaslight me.

Stating that "there are no plans to double or triple pricing overnight" is a statement of pure fiction, right? For Camtasia, my renewal of maintenance MORE THAN TRIPLED from last year (see my screenshots and explanation in post #1 of this thread) and the price is already guaranteed to increase further each year during the transition.

I'm not knocking the products - both are top notch in my opinion, but the price clearly reflects a focus on businesses (especially for Camtasia) without any regard for us individual users. I was planning on buying additional licenses, but have instead determined that my 2025 renewal will likely be my last as I test multiple alternatives.

Again, I apologize for the bluntness, but your assertion does not appear to match reality.

Businesses do what they have to do -- of course no sensible business is going to say in advance that they have "Plans to double or triple pricing" !!!! -- why would they - unless commiting business suicide is what they are after. Events whether political or economic or both change and can alter pricing considerably - There's not much one can do to prevent that - some costs just can't be absorbed -- so as a consumer if you like the product continue to get it -- if you don't or it's too expensive find something else or go without.

The W11 built in snipping tool now most of the bugs have gone in the latest versions of W11 seems perfectly adequate for what it's intended to do -- and does have limited screen capture video too. For quick basic screen captures it works probably well enough for 99% of typical Windows users.

Cheers

MS has had long enough to get Snipping Tool right! They blew it a long time ago!
