Mac users

How are you Mac users getting along with the new Windows 11 ?? Any big problems ? Or can you run W11 ?? Need some feed back for my clients !!

Intel Macs through Bootcamp or Parallels can run it no problem, not sure about M1's. There are reports of problems using the ARM builds I've heard

It's not very different whatsoever to Windows 10, so I would expect Mac users to have the same experience as they always have had.

For M1 Mac, you need to create a Windows 10 virtual machine with Parallels Desktop first. Then add TPM module and get direct upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 11.

AFAIK the only currently tested method of running Windows 11 for ARM on new 'M' series processors is by using Parallels virtualisation software and. of course both only Windows 10 for ARM and 11 for ARM are supported. BootCamp for dual booting is not supported on M series processors and Apple no longer seems to hold any interest in directly supporting OS virtualisation. Not sure how far QEMU has got with ARM support; but, as Apple's 'M' series propriatary processors are not compatible with other ARM processors there will probably be a high degree of dependence on OS providers developing directly 'M-compatible' ARM versions and/or the Virtualisation software providers finding a viable market for the development of software-based solutions.

Parallels Desktop for Mac compatibility with Windows 11 - Known Issues

Virtualisation on remaining Intel-based Apple Models (whose continued sale is likely to be relatively short-lived) is still supported by the existing software providers, primarily Parallels, VMWare and Oracle VirtualBox is continuing. I believe VMWare already provides TPM 2.0 emulation in it's products; and Oracle intends to issue a Version 6.1.x update shortly (across all supported platforms), which should at least provide TPM passthrough, with full TPM emulation probably to be incorporated in a future version. However, the vast majority of Mac Models do not have TPM, they have a proprietary (non-compatible) T2 Chip. Bootcamp development is at a standstill as x86 support is being phased out as the switch to 'M' Processors continues, so if there are additional needs for Windows 11, such as driver updates for proprietary Apple hardware, they are unlikely to be met.

My personal experience with current VirtualBox (6.1.26 version) on Intel-based MacBook Pro(s) is that Windows 11 installs and works normally using the already well known workarounds, i.e. it appears to function just as it would on any other non-compliant hardware. Don't own an M1 Mac and have no intention of buying one in the foreseeable.
