Macrium 8 problem Imaging vs cloning Imaging >restore 16 mins, cloning 40 Mins ?

Hi folks
Macrium 8 problem : Image Windows system, 7 mins, restore 9 mins -- 16 mins.
Clone system - nearly 40 mins?? What gives !!!!

Is this because imaging backs up only sectors with data and restoring (if using the paid for version) restores only the sectors that have changed (that can mean restores are done in as little as a minute or so).

Would a clone not be a sector by sector copy regardless of content and whether anything worthwhile or needed was on the disc? A backup of a 1Tb drive with 70Gb of Windows backs up 70Gb, a clone would image all 1Tb even if empty. That would be my understanding.

Doubt @jimbo45 would have selected all sector clone.

It has always been like this.

When you make an image backup, by default it compresses the data and writes less to a drive.

Unless you had a really weak cpu, the compression time is much lower than the data writing time.

With cloning, there is no compression and typically, you write approx 2-3 times the volume of data and hence it takes much longer to do a clone.
