When booting from USB media Macrium free version 8 loads fine then freezes at the start screen.

It's the version that Macrium creates so PE I presume.
The usb drive works on all my other 3 pc's but I'll create a new one and see what happens.

OK. So, your UFD is not the problem.
Maybe try a different USB port.
Rear ports are usually more reliable for bootable media. Especially on older computers.

Two things to try.
Switch from RE to PE or vice versa, depending on what you're currently using.
Also. Try making the UFD using your laptop.
I still think you're probably using RE. I've seen this issue with RE, but only rarely in all the years I've used Macrium Reflect. But, of course, I may be wrong.
Edit: When you go to the Rescue Media Builder, click "Advanced", "Choose Base WIM".

I mine did the same, I created another one on the USB using the same disk ..Worked okay the one time I tried it.
I had more issues with Macrium after buying the license key....errors in event viewer, red ! marks on some drives, saying MIG failed to protect this volume... reboot windows, reinstall Macrium.....Until I hear back from support I do not trust a backup....I may go back to the free one

If you create a MR bootable USB on one computer, it may not have the right drivers to work on a different computer.

For anyone else experiencing similar freezing issues and also use Windows 11 and RE boot media, switch to PE for now.
There's a known issue with winre.wim in Windows 11 that's been reported to Microsoft.
Other backup software are having similar issues with RE 11 boot media.

this happend during the " test disk writing " , freezed at 50% . This by using the bootmedia , outside Windows.
Very annoying , could not finish , only by using the reset-button on the desktop !
Checked the PC inside , the cabels ( all ok ) , did a check/repair on the disk , all fine .
So have to write my backups to other HDD , no problems anymore .
Still dont know the reason for freezing during the " test diskwriting " ............!!
Someone has any idea or encountered the same error ...........??

How did you create the boot media. Rufus is probably still a decent bet - create iso image and then use rufus to create a bootable usb stick.
