I bought a nice shiny new NVME drive, and my task manager calls it an SSD! The C: drive is labelled NVME in windows explorer. On an older machine, it calls the SSD an HDD! This is insulting my hardware. Can I make task manager show the drive labels?

Mine does the same. And technically a NVMe drive is a Solid State Drive.

Yes, but it's miles faster as not limited by SATA. Technically a Porsche is car, but you wouldn't just say you have a car.

Mine shows as the Label I gave it in File Explorer but not in Disk Management or Task Manager. In Disk Management the Label shows only on the main/C: partition.

Yes, I get the same. I was wondering if there was a way to change that. Even changing its own title "SSD" to "NVME" in the registry somewhere?

I don't worry about that as it shows properly in Device Manager.

I have 7 computers running 24/7 doing science projects, many of which are disk intensive, so I've upgraded to faster types of drives. I regularly look at the task managers to see what the bottleneck is, and it annoys me to see the wrong label!

P.S. my main computer has a 1TB NVME :p

And I've turned off those pesky Mac-like round corners :-)

I just consider the views are the difference between construction type and form factor of SSD versus NVMe. The usual SSD [and HDD] uses the SATA socket on the motherboard and the NVMe has its own type socket.

Yeah but the NVME ones are up to 14 times faster. My Renault would still be a Renault if I shoved a 3.5 litre V8 in it, but I'd want something on the back to say I'd done so.

Can't comment on that, changes the subject of the post.

Don't tell me there's an OCD admin in here that gets angry when we talk about something different?
Don't know if there is one, just that over time I've gotten bit at a few times for straying.

I get more than bit. I've had about 50 bans from various places. Everyone has turned into such a child. By the way, you're engaging in a conversation about admins, I'd better go tell on you.....
