Hello,

After a long period without receiving public facing updates, I'm very happy to share a new release for AdwCleaner, 8.4.1. This is a maintenance version to fix a security vulnerability and update the bundled definitions.

Many of you have questions and are curious regarding what's next for AdwCleaner, and I hope to be able to share more about that soon. Regardless, we should now be back on track to release more regular and valuable updates!

Please share your feature requests and any suggestions you would like to see implemented!

Thanks to everyone who submits vulnerability reports, we love to receive them!

We just shipped the release version of 8.5.0, finally.

It took a while to iron out several network-related bugs, but it looks like we've finally covered them all. Thanks to all of you who helped to test the preliminary releases!

A separate database update will happen early next week.

Features and improvements

Upgraded to Qt6 to keep AdwCleaner up-to-date and improve performance.
Updated bundled definitions to version 2024.10.23.2.

Issues fixed

Improved the handling of network connections to prevent various bugs from occurring.

It has been determined that due to the requirements needed to keep up with updates to the latest versions of Windows, starting with AdwCleaner version 8.5, Windows 7 is no longer supported.

You can continue to use version 8.4, at this time, it will continue to receive detection updates.

We do recommend updating to Windows 10 or higher, as Microsoft no longer patches any vulnerabilities in later versions of Windows.
