In case others might encounter the same problem, after installing all of the May Windows Updates today, I was immediately unable to access, from my desktop, either of my two E595 Lenovo laptops over my home network. (I was still able to access the desktop from the laptops.)

Trouble-shooting showed that the problem resulted from both laptops having their File Sharing and Network Discovery turned Off.

Both of these were definitely On before doing the updates, so it was one of them that farkled things.

By way of info, my desktop is hard-wired to the router, while the laptops connect wirelessly. All of them are running Windows 11 24H2 Professional.

I've actually run into this a couple of times myself on my PC. I notice it happens when there's a major version update to windows, it seems to reset the network settings to default with file sharing off.

I have to do this after almost every Windows Update:

Control Panel - Network & Sharing Center - Change Advanced Sharing Settings - Do a network reset on all systems. Reboot. Then make sure your Ethernet setting is "private" and all sharing settings are as you want them.
