I have a new Windows 11 desktop. There is a service : "McpManagementService" in services with description: "failed to read description. Error Code:15100>". Not for lack of research but I cannot find out what this service is: if it's needed how to fix it > if it's not needed how to get rid of it (currently disabled). Any info greatly appreciated. Oh, if anyone wants a good laugh... I actually spent 4 hours 52 minutes trying get MS support on this. Multiple disconnects after long holds but that's the closest I got!!

Yes, my PC is new as well and I have the same thing. I'm not worried about it.

same for everyone at the moment.
Though I know not to second guess MS, I'm still gonna guess it is something that will be used with some later feature of 11. It will be something extraordinary, I'm sure. (she says facetiously.)

NPSMSvc is responsible for displaying currently/now playing stuff on the volume slideout i believe
McpManagementService is "especially nasty" as it directly grabs screenshots and user activity data for submission to MS, among other slimy functions as per another thread on these forums.

Any news on this? I have the same situation on my Windoze 11 laptop right now.
Also, this is not the only services affected, see my attached image.

services.png

I think it's only a burden to the eyes though, meaning no real affect on the services.
I found the following advice someplace on the web:

Change services description: This can be accomplished using the SC.exe utility with the command: sc description <ServiceName> "Any Description you like." This command could be called from a command window opened as administrator or from a . Net application provided that the service has already been created.

I'll give it a go, since the "fault text" disturbs me.
I am curious however, on what's been messing with those services.
