So,
when I play a video on chrome and the windows screen is locked (Win + L),
if I pause the video by clicking with mouse on the floating media control panel at the bottom of the lock screen OR media keys OR dedicated buttons with wired/wireless headphones,
the floating media control panel disappears after 5 seconds of inactivity,
after which to play the video I have to sign in again, as neither the media keys nor the dedicated buttons of wired/wireless headphones work.
(P.S. This doesn't happen with Firefox.)

Even mouse movements don't help.
On the lock screen, after you pause, if you don't play within 5-6 seconds, the media control bar disappears, and then you have to sign back in.
Such a nuisance.

The media controls in Chrome can disappear after short inactivity due to the removal of the "HardwareMediaKeyHandling" flag from Chrome's feature flags. This flag used to allow disabling the feature where media controls would persist even when Chrome was not in focus, according to a Google Chrome Community post. While the flag is gone, the functionality can be disabled by modifying the Chrome shortcut's target command line, as explained in a Google Help thread.

Exactly. Chromium based browsers, for instance, Edge, Chrome, have the same pattern.
Firefox doesn't have the same problem.
Its frustrating to say the least. I mean, it used to be fun to leave the audio playing, and do other chores using Bluetooth headsets, with occasional pause/play. Now, every time I pause, I can't play it back, unless I do so within 5-6 seconds and have to sign in, just to hit play.
Oh well, firefox it is then.
