This is no biggie, but my curiosity won't let me leave it be. Several of the buttons (Stop, Previous, Forward, Mute) on the player are glowing blue. Someone suggested it was a contrast issue. My Contrast theme is set to None. For kicks, I set it for one of the available themes. Then reset it to None. The buttons returned to normal. But when I opened the player again, the buttons were glowing blue again. Anyone have a clue as to what's causing this absolutely deviate behavior in my pristine POS machine? Much obliged.

Mine do the same thing.... they glow blue when I put my cursor on the media playing in small screen.

I uninstalled Media Player and then reinstalled it. Legacy is missing. I looked in Windows Features, Optional Features, etc. Nothing. I used the Powershell (
Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -FeatureName "WindowsMediaPlayer" -All -Online).

Is reinstalling Windows my only option?

I got sick of looking at the internet in regards to this, as I am sure you have.

AI was a last resort with some ideas on how to correct it.
Some of these may not be available.
My favourite (which I have seen work with other things) is the last suggestion re Using Compatibility Mode & DPI settings


Reset Theme Rendering Cache
- Go to Settings > Personalization > Colors
- Toggle Transparency Effects off, then back on
- Reboot your system

Check Registry for Residual Contrast Settings
- Open regedit and navigate to:
Code: 
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Themes\HighContrast
- If Flags or Prevalence keys exist, set them to
Code: 
0
- Reboot

Force WMP to Re-render UI
- Close Windows Media Player
- Delete its UI cache:
Code: 
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player
- Relaunch WMP

Use Compatibility Mode​
- Right-click wmplayer.exe > Properties > Compatibility​
- Enable Disable display scaling on high DPI settings​
- Test behavior​

    Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
I get exactly the same, I think it was an optional feature on earlier version of Windows 11 or in MS Store.
I certainly did not use any complicated method to get it.

Those sort of button effects are reminiscent of Windows Vista, which had some graphics requirements introduced, hence some rather over the top button effects.
So just a carry over, after all you wanted to use Windows Media Player Legacy.

It is what it is.
