Memory Integrity keeps turning off for no reason

Normally this just works however every now and again it appears to turn itself off for now apparent reason. When it does I can just turn it on again and reboot and all works fine.

I've done the SFC scans etc. and everything is clear from that point of view.

I'd be less bothered by this if it was consistent, however the randomness of it makes me wonder what is going on and why this happens just occasionally. I found some other threads here that had people with the same happening but the last entry of those was 2022 so thought a new thread was in order.

Has anyone encountered this and if so what was the issue?

My first thought, if it happens often but inconsistent, is that a utility/ service/ app/ external hardware you use occasionally relies on using a driver that is incompatible with memory integrity causing it to be switched off.

Memory integrity is performance hog anyway

Yeah... ever since I turned 66, my "memory integrity" hasn't worked right either.

As @DigitalGoat says, it's most probably driver related. It could be an active driver but it can also be an old driver your system is not using anymore. It can also be an incompatible driver that one of your applications has installed.

To remove old and unused drivers from your Windows computer, first open Start Menu and right-click on Computer and select Properties. From the left side panel, click on Advanced system settings and click on Environment Variables. Alternatively, simply open Control Panel and type Environment Variables.

Now under the User variables box, click on New and type

devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices

in the Variable Name text box & 1 in the Variable Value box. This will set a flag to allow you to now view unused devices.

You can also use this method to show non-present devices.

Now type devmgmt.msc in start search and hit Enter to open Device Manager

Click View tab and select Show hidden devices. Expand the branches in the device tree & look for the faded icons. These indicate unused device drivers.

Right-click on it and select Uninstall and check to remove driver

I have memory integrity turned off by choice. It does not hurt a thing.
