They always had a Facebook App and a Messenger App but now seems like the Facebook App is basically the same as visiting Facebook.com. I actually like it more then the Messenger app. The Messenger app is better for screen shots.

As far as I know, the Messenger app for Windows has been removed. They seem to want people to use Facebook for their messaging instead of a standalone messaging app.
