Is the computer capable of running the latest Windows 10 Version?
If so, I don't know what mechanism is coming into play.
The apprairerres thing only affected how I upgraded to Win11, I do not need to take any action for routine updates to take place.
And mine's a pretty modest 2010 computer that's held together with sticky tape.

More than capable, it's a 4th gen i5. So that's what it does now. I have 2 supported machines so it's no biggy

The point I was making is that MS released 2 updates wirh the same KB reference - KB5010414 - but with diffeeent contents - .526 & .527

You can Install WAUM on W11 Home, it will 1st tell you it has to install/enable GPE, so it does, then you`ll have WAUM to control what updates are installed on W11 Home too. I just did it to 2 new HP Stream laptops that came with W11 Home. Although, you guys are talking about non compliant PC`s, so I guess it may or may not work. I think it would still work.

Microsoft are still playing the deception game by showing updates for you to install that are 'Optional' but not showing the word 'Optional' in the title. This time it's KB5011563. It isn't right that they are trying to dupe people into becoming unwitting testers of their updates. Grrrrrr.

It is blinking obvious. Normal cumulative updates show up when you check for updates and download and install automatically. You have to click download and install button to get optional updates. Use your noggin!

My point is that MS are being deliberate in their attempts to deceive and continue to try to dupe people. Just venting my annoyance at MS.

I am using my noggin by not clicking on the download and install button.

Then complain on Feedback instead, and add link so those who agree with you can upvote it, if you feel strongly enough about it.

Thanks for the advice - I assume you mean 'Feedback' to Microsoft. I don't know how to do that. Also do not then know how to 'Add a link' to allow others to 'upvote'.

They make it perfectly clear if you look at Optional updates, which, if you click on the X to dismiss the notification, is the only place it will appear.

The word that is missing from the update's title is not 'optional', it is 'Preview', as this is a preview of the non-security updates that will be included in the next Patch Tuesday update.

There is an app already installed to use Feedback Hub. After that, you can work it out.

I also do not want any previews installed on my PCs, and this seems to work for me:

Run gpedit.msc, go to 'Local Computer Policy->Administrative Templates->Windows Components->Windows Update->Windows Update for Business' and set 'Manage Preview Builds' to 'disabled.' I haven't even gotten those sneaky .NET preview updates since I enabled it.

I also have settings in there enabled to skip driver updates (I handle those) and to download 'recommended' updates along with 'other' MS software, so I get everything you should normally get -- .NET, Office, Windows, etc. -- just no 'previews.'

also set all your internet connections (wifi, ethernet and others) to "metered" which also helps & cuts down on unnecessary bandwidth usage by ms

I also thought it was a bit odd that a Cumulative Update was coming out on the 1st Tuesday of April.
The Cumulative Update for W10 is clearly labeled as Optional and has the word Preview in its title.

Even after you click the X to get rid of it from Windows Update, it comes right back when you run windows update again.
I sympathize with the OP, someone with a untrained eye would think it is a normal Cumulative Update and install it.
