Did you see this 'You might need to take action in another window'? The 'other window' in question was the UAC prompt, asking for permission to run the installer.

Sometimes the UAC can appear mininmised to the task bar and not immediately obvious. If so, then click on its icon. Had to do that for another app here.

did it go straight to the error? Or did it show my 'another window' message first? If it was awaiting a response from another window (which you couldn't see) then it may time out and give the error. If you got the error message straight off, then it's something else.

What level of UAC have you set? If you have turned it off then maybe the Store fails because it can't open the UAC prompt?

Go to Windows Settings --> Apps --> Apps & features --> use the search bar to search for 'store' --> when Microsoft Store appears, tap the three vertical dots and select Advanced options. What is the version number you have there?

Alternate way is to open start menu --> Search for 'store' --> In the ride side of the pane under Microsoft Store, select App settings.

Should look something like this:

If your version is older than that, search for updates to see if it finds any updates for the Store.

Also, which (W11) build are you running?

Interesting - mine installed the Power Toys OK using version 22108.1401.11.0, and I don't get any updates for the Store when I check. I'm on 22000.194

Is the Microsoft Store version supposed to be 0.46.0 or 0.45.0? When I look at Apps it seems to still be the one from github at v0.45.0 as I believe one is a regular .exe app and the Store version is UWP even though Microsoft Store said Installed and the button which normally would say "Open" is still on "Installed" and not clickable.

It's good to install PowerToys by the Store, because by the site it install another program.

BTW, winget working on Windows Terminal/+Preview only in Windows 11 (Not in Windows 10). Why ?

I've updated to version 0.46 on Win 10 to test.

On Win 10 you need to check if you have the App Installer App installed and Microsoft.DesktopAppInstaller_8wekyb3d8bbwe.msixbundle installed from here,

@swarfega I'm running winget on 21H1 Build 19043.1237,

I've only installed a few such as HwInfo, Powertoys and FormatFactory and a few others I can't remember. Any program I want to install I always check winget first.

Edit, had to remove email in image.

I need to set up a list of things I can install. Conversely I use winget to uninstall cortana.
