An 'optional update' has appeared in Windows Update on my HP Pavilion desktop, entitled "Microsoft Wireless Router Module". I have searched Google, etc., but cannot find a definitive answer about its function or purpose. I am running with:
Edition Windows 11 Home
Version 22H2
Installed on ‎4/‎14/‎2023
OS build 22621.1778
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22642.1000.0

Thanks, glasskuter for your response. Have you installed it on your system? I'm still a little foggy about installing it myself. Even people at MS seem evasive about it it's usefulness, as Blackjaque says, "I don't think anyone knows what the Microsoft Wireless Router Module does." This begs the question, "should I install it or not?"

No. I don't have it. I manage my own drivers and have all driver updating turned off through windows update.
You can show/hide an update using the show/hide update tool. @hsehestedt gives great instructions in post #8 of this thread on how to hide an update.

latest intel xe driver is replaced by old drive from windows updates

hello, i am not able to figure out how to disable windows update to constantly replace my intel xe graphic card driver. i tried steps from article How To Disable Specific Driver Updates In Windows 11/10 but its not what i want ... because if i just disable driver using Device Installation...
