I build my own PCs and MS recently forced me to do so before my old one really needed it because they refused to let Win11 be installed on it. I have always avoided having an MS account and with the help of folks here was able to do so again, but only just. Boy MS is making it harder every time.

When my son was little we both played Minecraft together and had some great times. When MS forced people to transfer their Mojang accounts to MS accounts, I didn't and I haven't been able to play it since. Not a huge loss because my son is grown up and other obsessions fill his mind now. But I've been feeling nostalgic and want to play again. I also don't want a MS account to be associated with my computer because I don't want their more intrusive nonsense like their backup service. First is it too late for me to convert my mojan account to a microsoft account? (I get that y'all here might not know the answer to that one). And second, if I have minecraft installed with a MS account on my new win11 computer can I do so without the MS account being associated with my install of win 11

If you want to download a game or app from the Microsoft store, you do not need to be logged in to your computer with a Microsoft Account.

You do need a Microsoft account and you need to login to the store with that, and with any online Microsoft Games.

You can still be logged in with your Non Microsoft Local account on your computer when you do this.
