So I have a laptop and 2 external monitors.
I decided that I just wanted to use the 2 external monitors so I told Windows 11 to display on the laptop monitor.
If I remember correctly that normally shows up in the Display settings as disabled but now it is not and even disconnecting from the dock/2 external monitors I can't get the laptop display to come on. I have tried to remove the display device and rebooted but nothing.

Any ideas?

I think I understand what you're asking here. Try hooking up a monitor to display on your laptop. Then, go into Display Setting, select your laptop monitor, and make sure it's the primary monitor. See if this works.

Yeah, I tried that but the laptop monitor does not show up in Display Settings. Seems like whatever I do that display won't show up. I even removed all the drivers and let it rediscover the adapter but the laptop monitor still never appears.
Thanks for your help

So I got into Display settings and told Windows not to display on the laptop monitor as I have two other external monitors. That worked but the laptop monitor has disappeared altogether now in Display Settings. Even removing it from the docking station turning off the PC and turning it back on with no dock or any connections the laptop monitor doesn't display.

I suspect it probably has something to do with the drivers you removed!

Hmm... well all this was going on before I touched anything in Device manager or removed anything.

In Display Settings and under Advanced Display Settings, have you tried changing the display resolution and the vertical refresh frequency of each external monitor in such a way that these settings match the laptop's built-in screen's settings (that were there before the screen disappeared)?

Unplug the dock and restart the laptop to force it to use the laptop screen. Then plug the dock back in and see what happens.
