OS
Windows 11 Pro
Win 11 and for some reason the monitor will not turn off. Even if I use a 3rd part app when I run the app the monitor turns off and right away comes back on.
Any ideas?

Turn off when?
What 3rd party app?
Turns off at the switch on your monitor or sleep mode in Windows?
Could you give an example?

I would first update or reinstall your display driver.
Followed by the following commands

Open search on your PC, type CMD.
  • Right click on CMD and “Open as admin”
  • Click on the following command so it copies to your clipboard and paste it into the CMD window:

DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

  • Press enter and be patient.
  • Reboot your PC when finished.

After reboot:

  • Open search on your PC, type CMD.
  • Right click on CMD and “Open as admin”
  • Click on the following command so it copies to your clipboard and paste it into the CMD window:

SFC /scannow

  • Press enter and be patient.

Can you run a command prompt with administrator rights, and run powercfg /requests? That may show us what is requesting the display to stay on.

OK, 1st off thanks for all the suggestions.
I had already done the dism cleanup and restorehealth plus the sfc scan (should have mentioned that) and they all completed successfully.
When I run the powercfg /requests I get the following even after running the Turn Off Lcd.exe which turns the display off for about 1 sec at most...

I'm wondering if it's that Tobii Aware thing. Never heard of it before, but I found mentions like "your computer won't dim or sleep when you are present but inactive." Can you find a way to disable it?

Edit : YouTube video from Tobii mentioning that

After searching, tobii experience is head tracking software of some kind. I found the service and disabled it but the problem persists.
I'm trying to find a way to fully uninstall it. I can't believe these damn manufacturers.

Yeah I was hesitant to tell you to uninstall it just to see if it fixed something, but it may come to that. It's apparently discontinued anyway.

OK, I finally found it in device manager and uninstalled it and the monitor does turn off now. While searching I saw where it gets re-installed without registry edit so I'll have to find that again.

Thanks again.

Unfortunately the display problem is back. Nothing in device mgr now so it didn't get re-installed.
I did see that reddit post. I'm not that great so I'll have to really read that thing and see if it fits my machine

Those instructions won't work for me because I cannot find tobii in control panel or task manager or anywhere else except a few folders on my drive and there doesn't seem to be a way to do it with those files. just data etc. I think I'm screwed.
I contacted tobii support. Hopefully they will have an answer

Reinstall the APP(?) Tobii, download Revo Uninstaller Free and use that to remove it, let it remove any registry leftovers, remove the lot. Revo is really careful.
If you buy the pro version, it has a Hunter Mode, will search and remove software leftovers that you specify.

Revo Uninstaller Free
