Mouse Pointer Option, “Enhance pointer precision” Keeps Getting Reset
“Enhance pointer precision” keeps getting reset. I don’t even have to reboot for it to happen.
[Mouse Settings > Additional mouse settings > Pointer Options > Enhance pointer precision]
I thought it might be associated with Windows Updates, but I think it happens more often than that… even more often than rebooting.
I ran system file checker. Nothing unusual was found.
I use a Kensington trackball. There is no Kensington software installed.
Microsoft Office and Keyboard Center is installed.

“Enhance pointer precision” keeps getting reset
Do you mean reset from 'ticked' to 'unticked' or other way around? Whichever it is I wonder if it is a corrupt mouse driver? Try uninstalling and reinstalling the driver perhaps?
Also it is a wired or wireless mouse?

“Enhance pointer precision” does not remain checked.
I uninstalled all mouse drivers. (That's difficult to complete!)
The mouse is wired.
I just re-checked "Enhance pointer precision" I'll re-post if it gets unchecked.

Try running this batch file. It runs windows command line functions SFC, DISM and CHKDSK in order to check for and fix windows problems.
Be aware it may take 10 minutes to run so be patient.

There is no special driver for the Kensington ExpertMouse trackball.
I don’t like KensingtonWorks.
I ran Tuneup.bat. I think there were no problems:

This website suggests that there is software for customising your mouse and the photo implies that pointer options are available.

If you can't resolve the issue to your satisfaction then maybe try another type of mouse? It may cost you some £ but may lead to a less frustrating computer experience.

Okay then change your mouse as per my post #9. I think you can get these quite cheap so not much of a gamble. Good luck.

The problem was solved by doing a Windows Reset.
Too bad I selected the wrong option and now I have to reinstall all of my programs and restore all of my lost settings.
At least my regular files didn't get clobbered.
