Hi,

I have a relatively new computer however am encountering multiple Event ID 41 randomly across the day and have been trying to find out the underlying reason. Seems that the computer becomes unresponsive follows up randomly restarting. I tried to further narrow down the issue through the use of OCCT, but there does not seem to be any issue with the PSU/GPU tests after I left it to run for an hour.

I have attempted using DDU but seems like I am still encountering such errors. Hence, appreciate if I could get some help in interpreting the logs.

Board: Gigabyte x870 Gaming X WIFI7
Processor: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
GPU: Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti
SSD: Samsung 990 Pro 1 TB
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR5
PSU: Superflower 1200W Leadex Platinum SE 80+ plat

Attaching both V2 and tune up files.

Thank you for the assistance.

1) Turn off Windows fast startup

2) Run: gather_additional_dump_files > post a share link

3) Read this link on Windows Driver Verifier (WDV):

Enable and Disable Driver Verifier in Windows 10

4) Create a new restore point:

5) Learn the methods to recover from BSOD caused by WDV by booting into safe mode and running one or more of these commands:

verifier /reset

verifier /bootmode resetonbootfail

6) Plan to run the tool with various customized test settings.

a) Test all non-Microsoft drivers

b) Test no Microsoft drivers

c) For the first run of WDV select the 3 customized tests displayed in the TF tutorial

7) Whenever the WDV tool is started if there is no immediate BSOD then open administrative command prompt and copy and paste:

verifier /querysettings

Post a share link.

Customized tests will then be posted for the next run of WDV.

WDV can run continuously during the testing.

For any BSOD post a new V2 share link into the newest post.

Hi zbook, thank you for sharing,

I have disabled fast start up and obtained the dump files as well as new V2 post BSOD as per attached. There was no crash on the first run of WDV with the 3 customized test, but the BSOD happened when i ran a second WDV test with standard setting on the Microsoft driver.

Do not set your computer to High Performance mode. This will cause your CPU to constantly run at highest speed, heat up, and constantly crash with Critical Error 41.

Hi Gary,

Sorry for my confusion but would you be referring to the setting in control panel? as mine is on balanced instead of highcontrol panel performance setting.webp

Yes, that's it. If you're plan is Balanced, then this isn't a possible problem for you.

Hi zbook,

It had crashed while the Nvidia GPU driver was updating hence tried DDU again but the same thing has happened. Hence, i have not done the new restore poitn and WDV yet, should i still go ahead with those test?

steps done:

1)safe mode
2) DDU to remove AMD and Nvdia
3) reinstall AMD and Nvdia,
4) Nvdia app launches (black screen happens here)

Meanwhile, attaching the new V2.

Hi zbook,

i have managed to install both gpu drivers without crashing using the other nvdia installer. Hence, have ran another WDV with all customized tests except: [ ] 0x00000004 Randomized low resources simulation.

Ran:
a) Test all non-Microsoft drivers (encounter BSOD here)

Should i still run the second WDV to include testing microsoft drivers as well as above Norton uninstall and defender update?

Attaching the BSOD encountered at the initial test:

attaching link instead due to file size

Please update the progress with post #10.

(Norton drivers were involved in the crash)

After uninstalling restart WDV to find a misbehaving driver.

Hi zbook, i have done the steps in post 10 uninstalling Norton 360 into DDU again for the AMD and Nvidia GPU drivers.
However, Window Security remains as a black screen for me hence, i am unable to update defender, although it seems to be running, hence i went ahead to run WDV with all customized tests except: [ ] 0x00000004 Randomized low resources simulation.

Ran:
a) Test all non-Microsoft drivers (encounter BSOD here) twice, first BSOD indicated RtkBtFilter2.sys (did not manage to get a V2 log for this. I unchecked the driver and ran a second test with another BSOD error indicating GVCIDrv64.sys.

Posting here first as i am unsure if i should continue doing more WDV in the same way, and as i was writing this post, i have encountered another BSOD hence sharing the links to both V2 logs.

GVCIDrv64 is a driver that is part of the Gigabyte control center.
