Solved Multiple physical drives

I need to reinstall Windows 11. But I have two SSD's, with Linux on the second one. Both drives are the same size (1 TB) and roughly the same amount of free space on each. Is there a way to label each one in Terminal?

If you know how to open your PC, you can just disconnect the power cable from one and they try booting. That should tell you which is which. One you find out just label them both with a piece of blue tape and a marking pen,

Sorry, I meant how can I label each drive only using terminal commands without opening the computer.

If you clean install ALWAYS remove all secondary drives leaving only the one where you are installing windows.

As far as labeling several ways to do it. Rename Drive or Volume Label in Windows 11

If you didn't want to remove the other drive, you could run diskpart under Windows, before installing. The disk layouts are different from a Windows and Linux system disk.

diskpart commands:

When you boot from the USB drive, pause at the first Setup screen. Enter Shift-F10, and a CMD window session will open. You can run diskpart again, and confirm based on the partition layout that Setup is following the same drive numbering or not. On some occasions because of driver support, the disk numbers could be switched.

Sometimes removing or disconnecting the other drive isn't an option. But you can use diskpart to see if Setup is defaulting to the wrong drive.
