I moved the default location of the Music folder to F:\Music. Now in File Explorer, when I click on the Music folder in the Navigation pane, there is no change in the view of the Detail pane. The Properties dialog of the Music folder is blank in all fields. The Music Library does show that folder's content. The Start menu link to Music also works. So does shell:My Music. I've checked all the registry keys that hold the Music shell folder values and they all have the correct F:\Music value. I also ran SFC. I'm running Windows version 23H2.

Running SFC would not fix that as it is a system file checker.
The .reg key with your folders is here.

Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders &
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

But sadly, it seems it no longer works with the new explorer.
It might be easier to configure any folder to your liking by using winaero.

How exactly did you 'move' that Music Folder? To move such a folder you should have used Folder Properties >Location >Move sequence.

You would have been asked if you agreed to moving the source folders contents.

Yes, I did move the Music folder using the Folder Properties >Location >Move sequence. And yes the audio files are in the F:\Music folder. What is so odd is that I can select another folder in the Navigation pane and see its contents. But when I click on the Music folder, the contents of the prior folder still show in the details pane. As though I didn't even select the Music folder.

search in your registry to find the CLSID to that folder (on your F:\) and substitute that GUID for the one in these commands:

Command Prompt as Admin:
Code:
Reg.exe delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\MyComputer\NameSpace\{3dfdf296-dbec-4fb4-81d1-6a3438bcf4de}" /v "HideIfEnabled" /f

If I substitute {1CF1260C-4DD0-4ebb-811F-33C572699FDE} on the 3rd code line with the F:\Music GUID then won't the 4th code line be a duplicate when I replace {A0C69A99-21C8-4671-8703-7934162FCF1D} with the F:\Music GUID?

The Music folder in File Explorer still shows an empty content. Earlier I had done a search of the Registry for {A0C69A99-21C8-4671-8703-7934162FCF1D} that represents the new location of the Music folder (F:\Music). The ParsingName subkey value of HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FolderDescriptions\{a0c69a99-21c8-4671-8703-7934162fcf1d} is "shell:::{3dfdf296-dbec-4fb4-81d1-6a3438bcf4de}". When I run that shell command it takes to the F:\Music folder.

just remove your music folder from the nav pane and the folders category of this pc and add your other one manually. icon is stored in \Windows\System32\imageres.dll (or system32.dll) (cant remember for sure offhand

use winaero's older folder tool (attached as you cannot DL it anymore)

Thanks for offering my the ThisPCTweaker app. I was able to add my F:\Music folder under This PC with the name Music and a disc icon. However, that Music folder just won't disappear. On this forum I reviewed the info on removing This PC folders (Add or Remove Folders under This PC in File Explorer in Windows 11). But the GUID key referenced for the Music folder ({3dfdf296-dbec-4fb4-81d1-6a3438bcf4de}) does not exist under the NameSpace key. Instead, I found that {a0c69a99-21c8-4671-8703-7934162fcf1d} key created when I moved the Music folder. So under that key I did change the value of HiddenByDefault to 1 and created the key HideIfEnabled=dword:022ab9b9. And also with {1CF1260C-4DD0-4ebb-811F-33C572699FDE} changed the value of HiddenByDefault to 1. After closing the registry and restarting explorer, the Music folder just won't go away.

With File Explorer closed I ran your batch file. I then restarted explorer and ran This PC Tweaker. The app did not see the Music folder so I added it back. Attached is a screenshot of my File Explorer window with This PC selected in the navigation pane. Note that it includes a second custom Music folder that points to F:\Music. Still, even when I double-click the Music icon in the details pane, the content of the folder is empty. The same result when I select any instance of Music in the navigation pane.

Assuming that you moved the Music Folder correctly, I would remove Music from “This PC” and then add it again.

Use the following reg files in the tutorial below.

Remove_Music_folder_from_This_PC_in_File_Explorer.reg

Add Music Folder
Add_Music_folder_to_This_PC_in_File_Explorer.reg
