My Apps are playing audio louder than the master volume on external speakers only

Hi,

I have the Creative Pebble Nova speakers connected via USB and just recently, all apps are playing audio louder than the master volume setting. Since, by default, these apps have their volume setting at 100%, they end up playing at 100% of my Pebble!!!

The only thing I can do with the master volume is mute; otherwise, it's settings are ignored and I have to use each individual app to fix the volume.

I've factory-reset the Pebble several times and I disabled Exclusive Mode (i.e., both "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" and "Give exclusive mode applications priority" are unchecked) but all to no avail.

Again, no issues with my internal laptop speaker; this issue only happens with the Pebble speakers.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks!

It's the Creative USB driver that's the culprit, I'm sure!

I connected the speakers via Bluetooth and no issues whatsoever; it's only via USB that the issue occurs. Furthermore, while using USB, if I use the physical buttons on the Pebble to raise or lower the volume, then the volume setting works but if I use the volume slider in Windows, then the setting does not stick and it reverts to the application volume.

I posted something a while back & it included this on the app list, you might want to give it a try & see if it helps.

EarTrumpet for controlling volume on an individual per-app basis

If you consistently find that some apps are way too loud or way too quiet even when your system volume seems fine, then you need EarTrumpet. This quick and easy utility lets you individually adjust the volume of any audio source that’s playing on your PC.

From browser windows to social apps, from local audio to online, EarTrumpet gives you fine-tuned control over your PC’s audio output. It can even let you lower the volume of everyone in a Discord chat rather than having to do it one by one.

Thanks...but another problem in my situation is that I use a docked setup for both my personal and work laptops and the work laptop is completely locked down, so I'm unable to install anything and I need a solution that will cover both computers.
