I updated the bios and everything was working fine but later in few days I found my GPU (6800 xt) reported in gpuz as x8 card so I put my pc in horizontal state and reseated the gpu then the PC refused to POST ... Later I found an option in the bios is the problem. This option name as I remember prevent over current and when enabled, the mobo does not POST, so I cleared the BIOS settings and left this option to default value = disabled then I discovered the power off problem.

Push the switch for the fan (semi-fanless) and it should always spin when PSU is on.

Personally I leave my PSU to always have the fan spinning as, even at low load, the PSU components are heating up.

The link I included in post #81 lists three ways to test your PSU. The second method requires a multi-meter. The third requires a PSU tester. They're quite cheap but very handy. I'm not saying that it is your power supply but at least this is one variable that can be easily eliminated. If you have already reset your CMOS and replaced your battery it might be worth a try. You could also try checking the manufacturer's page to see if there are any issues with the new BIOS or flash back your BIOS to when power settings worked but I would leave that as a last resort.

Sometimes removal of the battery gives you a better reset. After you remove the battery for five minutes or so you can replace it. i.e. put it back. (That is, if it is good working order. Otherwise replace it with a fresh battery.) I would have waited before flashing back to the older BIOS. You may need to update your BIOS again. Check the manufacturer's web site to see what the update was supposed to fix. Check any forums that may be there also that specifically address your system board.

I had a thought that's a little unorthodox but might be worth a shot. Evidently your system board has pins for a reset button but your case does not use one. you could try adding a reset switch to it anyway and just leave it inside the case. I don't know if your "smart" chip in your PSU would detect this or not but it could be that your PSU and system board are designed to run with a reset switch and perhaps this could inadvertently affect your power settings. Pure speculation, of course, but power supplies are getting "smarter".

I go back to this when I asked if the computer shuts down if you hold in the power button.

That is exactly what I mean. Some BIOS have a setting to force the system into standby rather than to shutdown. It's not common, but I have seen it.

I have a feeling the thread on MSI forum I linked to is the same person and the last two posts state they are going to dissemble the board and also that they dropped a screw on the board.

If dropped on the one of the I/O chips it could now be damaged.
