Solved My task manager is full of duplicates running and they cannot be closed?

For the past week, this laptop has been super slow. Loading any kind of web page takes a while.
I have a good connection.
Menu items also do not snap open fast as they used to do.

Is stuff running interfering with the response?
Sometimes clicking on an open tab shows a black screen for several seconds before it shows text again, it never used to do that.

Disable Ubisoft, see if it makes a difference.
Check your Graphics drivers are up to date, are two things you can try.

It is still being slow, decided to try various reinstalls first one is this. It was never this slow when I first got it running windows 11
Like today, click on a tab, whole screen turns black for 3 seconds before page displays. Same kind of things, it is very sluggish

It's being very slow on this download, been stuck at 4% for 15 minutes. I may have to nuke the entire OS and start fresh.

IT was sitting and sitting. I shut it down, said was updating, came up slowly.
This Dell laptop has an NVME drive.

After a boot posting back here and at first the keys were lagging. Like type in a few words nothing appears, then it slowly posts to the screen

I have no idea if it did anything trying the reinstall.

Right now mouse is disappearing and then shows again and page cant scroll, This is a touch screen so it is as slow as before.

Couple years ago, when I put in the WD Black NVME, this PC was super fast, instant. Now it is like molasses. So something is wrong with it.
Any scans on the drive come back good. Painful to use this. I suppose if an OS freshening wont fix it, maybe the NVME has failed.

A bad sign is you touch the screen to scroll window and it is slow to move, the screen has to repaint and it looks jagged. But not always.

This AM apparently the downloaded repair install was finished, and it told me to restart, said would take 10 to 30 minutes to reinstall.
It went to updating screen, 0%,21%, etc.. went to 100%. I left. Came back and now I have a huge white mouse arrow that I can move and a black screen, and that is it. I will give it 30 minutes, then force restart

It did finally bring up windows, but if things are not fixed, I am going to nuke the OS and start over.

I have older AMD chip PC's with SATA SSD drives and they run rings around this Dell Laptop with NVME and 32 gb ram, Dell Precision 7530

I just noticed the snipping tool wont run right! Took 3 minutes to load

I found out I put a Toshiba 500gb NVME drive in this laptop. I am thinking of putting in a new WDC500gb NVME I have here and starting over

Have you run a full antivirus scan? Sounds like the symptoms of a badly infected PC.

Are all the MB drivers up to date?

Is it overheating and being restricted to protect the processor?

Did you do what antspants suggested?

If you're using Task Manager go down to the next tab labeled "Performance" and you can see what the Memory and Disk is showing. As well as the CPU performance. If the CPU is at or near 100% that is part of the problem. Same for memory and disk.

I'm a computer enthusiast so have quite a few systems that I run. More like an advanced hobby.
I just put in a new T500 Crucial NVME 1GB and reinstalled windows 11.
And it is super fast again, like zooming.

Windows installer tried to put all my apps back in but it seemed to not work even though I had told it not to do that.
It did restore some stuff like the desktop theme

It also showed a strange date of 2042??, in the installer

took from my phone this image, but very little was restored, why?
Corrupt data stored online in my account?

I left the old Toshiba NVME out. I figured why bother, the new crucial is 2x bigger than it was, and what if it is infected.

I can keep it and build another PC for the boat using it, maybe.

picture with new NVME in place. I did put the nvme covers back on

Laptop also needs a new battery. it is pretty dead will only stay on 30 mins

Tip back cover screws are captured, wont fall out of cover, and flex cover up slightly in middle longwise when removing and reinstalling, it allows the little plastic tabs to reseat.

Zooming along super fast, super fast booting, speedy Gonzales. Better than when I first got it.
I put up with it being pathetic a long time, it slowly creeps up on you the degradation.
It also went through more normal periods and then unexplainably collapse in exhaustion.
