My Waterfox browser setting keeps resetting after reboot.

My Waterfox browser setting keeps resetting after reboot. I have set waterfox to default browser through windows setting.
The next day when I open the browser, the default setting have changed also my video and music files to window media player format and I have to set it again.

I am using Waterfox 6.7.3 (64-bit) but portable version.

My OS. Windows 11 Pro, Version 22H2, OS build 22621.3155.

I suggest you manually change the file types that Waterfox can open.
  1. Open Settings and go to Apps.
  2. Select Default apps.
  3. Scroll down to find Waterfox in the list and click on it.
  4. You will see a list of file types and protocols that Waterfox can handle. You are specifically interested in the following file types. (.htm, .html, http, https, pdf). In the list of file types, select each of those protocols individually, a list of browsers pops up. Select Waterfox from the list.

Hi this morning when I start up my computer it reset back all my default setting. The default setting have changed, the browser I am using show not default, my video and music files changed to windows media player instead of media player classic ( MPC player ). Kindly help me solve this proplem pals. Thanks.

Your Waterfox settings reset after a reboot usually because a corrupted prefs.js profile file prevents changes from saving, or third-party cleanup software is wiping the profile cache on shutdown.

Common Fixes to Stop Settings Resetting

Wouldn't the point of a portable version be to leave no traces on your computer, including user preference settings details? That may be the reason why settings are not saved/restored between sessions

Where are the portable files located - USB?

When settings are changed, is a new user profile created? Dows Wfx re-open with that same profile or a default start-up one?

I installed in the same computer as I usually do, as for profile I am not sure and don't have that experience to do. Thanks for the tip.
