Windows 11
On a new install of Windows 11 around 1 month or so old. Once a day sometimes twice a day the network adapter drops internet connection, the adapter still appears in device manager except the internet drops from it and Settings will show the adapter name and "No internet". I have 2 network adapters, my wireless card and a USB to Ethernet adapter and it happens with both devices. So I know its not either the wireless card or the USB to Ethernet adapter or the cable, etc. I can quickly fix this by disabling and re-enabling the adapter in Settings and internet connection comes right back up. I think it's worth mentioning I have WSL2 and VMWare Workstation Pro installed on this system since I think it has something to do with that. Hyper-V is not enabled but Virtual Hypervisor Platform is.

Really an annoyance to my workflow since I'll leave my computer running overnight for large uploads and downloads and sees its failed stating no internet connection when everything should be okay. Just needs a disable and re-enable and it's back.

I've tried:
- DISM & sfc scannow.
- Complete Network Reset (Settings > Network & Internet > Advanced > Network reset)
- Disable power management on the network adapters (Device Manager > Uncheck allow the computer to turn off this device to save power)

The only network related error in Event Viewer I see is this:

Problem still happens, any ideas?

Test using only one adapter, wired or wireless. I would try setting up a static ip to see if it continued to happen. Might help. Might not. All of mine are static for both wired and wireless..

Have you considered that it could be your ISP? Does it happen at the same time each day?
Are there any devices you can check, like a phone or tablet, to see if they also lose connection at the same time?

I'm glad you see it, because I cannot ... lol

You could try changing DNS servers. Use Google 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 or Cloudflare 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1.

Have you tried updating Windows 11 to 23H2?

This link may have some tips:

I agree so check the event log on your router. In my case I enter a URL in my web browser to access the router/hub manager, where I can access this log. You will need the hub password (not Wi-Fi password) to access this. Maybe you can do the same? Your ISP or hub documentation will advise on how to access the hub manager.
To see dropouts select the WAN filter and look for phrases such as 'PPPoE down' or 'DSL Link down' along with the date and times of the dropouts.

Incidentally, from my experience of dropouts here in the UK, a dropout of only once per day is not considered unreasonable by ISPs and they would be unlikely to send engineers to check it out. Other people's experience may vary. Good luck.

Not related to ISP, other devices on the network are fine when this happens.

It does not happen at the same time everyday.

Have you checked your router IP lease setting? I had similar issues but once I increased lease to its maximum issues went away.

This is a copy of part of an article I founf d on internet, it helps me to solve the problem as yours, when the process finishes, reset the network adapter.

WLANSVC or WLAN Auto Config Service is the service that manages connecting and disconnecting from wireless networks. We're going to stop the WLAN AutoConfig service, so we can delete some temporary files, then restart the WLAN AutoConfig service.

Press the Windows Key + R and type in services.msc. Scroll down to WLAN AutoConfig. Right-click WLAN AutoConfig and select Stop. Keep the Services window open.

Open File Explorer and enter C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Wlansvc\Profiles\Interfaces in the navigation bar.

Delete any folders in the Interfaces folder.

Solved

Posting solution for anyone who comes across the same issue.

Need to set DNS servers manually inside your network adapter, there seems to be some sort of issues with Windows where its unable to reach them after a certain period of time if its set to Automatic.

Some notes:
  • DNS servers on the router are the same as the ones I set manually inside the network adapter settings in Windows so the issue is NOT the actual DNS servers
  • Doesn't matter which router I'm connected to, I've experienced this issue on multiple different networks
