Solved New Computer, Can't Get Past "Add your Microsoft account."

It really is turbo boost max tech 3.0

Windows 11 just doesn't like it. (Among other things.)

Also tried simply uninstalling it via oem.info in CMD but to no avail.

You can visit your computer or motherboard manufacturer support site and download any Intel drivers. Alternatively you can use Snappy Driver Installer to install the missing drivers for you. Avoid updating any other drivers (blue text), install only the missing drivers (green text).

Already tried the drivers on ASUS support page for X99. It's a no go. I'm stuck with a yellow triangle here. Not familiar with Snappy Driver. Sounds scary. Is that a third party program?

Got nuthin to lose. I'll try it.

So, it's been a while. I thought I'd try something new. TBMT is activated in UEFI. The 6900K does use TBMT on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 Bit. That part checks. Thought I'd try something outrageous (only because I've succeeded with "universal" Dell drivers before) but alas, to no avail. Conclusion: Windows 11 does not support all drivers for hardware even if it's only 6 years old. (When this CPU was first released by Intel.)

Download the Windows 11 ISO and any drivers you need, make sure you are disconnected from the internet. Do a clean installation of Windows 11. Don't connect to the internet when prompted, do the hack instead to use a local account. Install chipset and all other drivers and restart. Check everything is OK and then connect to the internet to activate. This should prevent Windows Update messing with your drivers and should make Turbo Boost technology work with the Windows 7 driver.

PS: I would run Windows Update Show Hide Tool and block all drivers just in case.

Thank you for the tip, my friend. When I get this rig all rebuilt again I'll give that a go. Right now it isn't high priority but I thought I'd just try something different. The CPU is OC'd from 3.2 GHz to a healthy 4.1 GHz and I'm happy with that since it's running full bore at this speed without issue. I might have to pay a few extra pennies on my power bill but so far, so good. That yellow triangle is just a reminder that I suffer from OCD. lol

just do it THE EASY WAY -- forget about the loads of posts about messing around with OOBE, copying dlls etc --my way must be the SIMPLEST solution to this problem BY FAR.

you can get past this and go for a local account

type in for the email nobody@nobody.com
password whataloadoofbollocks or anything you like

you'll get a message ---oops something went wromg and you can click the next button and setup continues with a local account.

Still works --I used that method yesterday again as I was installing a clean version of the latest Windows build.


If you want an Ms account you can do it all after you've got up and running and change local to an Ms account.

That means there is a device that does not have a driver.
Download the Chipset driver for your Motherboard X99-E WS/USB 3.1 - Support. Windows 10 is the last supported OS for this board, but you can use Compatibility Mode if needed to install the driver.
Once installed, restart. If the Yellow mark is still there in the Device Manager, then Right click it and choose Properties/Details tab. Under Property, take the Drop Down arrow and select Hardware ID's. Copy the string and paste it into Google and it should tell you what device it is.

I can't tell you how many times I've tackled this. I already know what the device is. The device is the CPU. The 6900K is not compatible with Win 11. I've already attempted numerous installations from ASUS and Intel only for the OS to reject them. The device does not have a driver because Windows 11 blocks it. There is no compatibility in Windows 11 for this driver so compatibility mode is not an option.

Isn't there a generic "Intel CPU" or something you can manually select to get rid of the yellow exclamation mark?

So much to-do over nothing. You only have problems when you try to play Microsoft's game by Microsoft's rules.
Don't do that and the problems go away. There ARE options, and they are easily obtainable.
I only play by my own rules!
Give me that computer, no matter the cpu etc, and in less than an hour I can have Windows 11 installed and running with a Local Account, no muss and no fuss.
At least one person here, knows what I'm talking about.

I did terrify my little wife one day, by hanging off the side of a tower well over 100' off the ground, with only one hand and one foot on the tower and the other hand and foot out in free space.
We worked together, putting up towers and hanging antennas. She was my Ground Crew. The biggest CB antenna was not the Moonraker, but the wide spaced five element "Long John" beam. That sukka was like 24' long x 19' wide. I put up several of those.
With an antenna like that, and a 500W kicker, distance was just a number.
Them was the good ol' days! FCC be dammed, when there was no skip, we made our own.

So either my signal was going around the horn to get to Columbia, or she was just getting the back-scatter off of the back of my antenna. Either way, that was a short but fascinating conversation. We did not QSL!

So, did the OP ever get past the insistence on a Microsoft Account?
