New computer build Win 11 installation doesn't go to sleep despite default power settings.
When attempting to troubleshoot with Terminal (admin) Powershell, entering command powercfg/requests or powercfg/? there is error command isn't recognized as cmdlet, function, script file or operable program.
Is there something I'm doing wrong?
Thanks.

Don't know if it's a typo or not but you need a space 'powercfg /requests'

Correct reply - space was missing. Thanks.
But still running powercfg /requets all replies are "none"
Looks like this command can't be of any help.

In order to troubleshoot you first need to see what sleep states your computer supports/
Command prompt as admin powercfg -a

Requests is only useful for currently active change to a thread execution state, which even a brief toggle of an execution state would effectively reset the counter used for sleep/hibernate etc

If a user has sleep problems, without the results of the above command, the user (nor us) know for sure what sleep state is having the issue. Your system may well be using modern standby rather than S3 sleep. Some, (not all) UEFI bios allow a modern standby system to change to S3 which is a much preferable sleep state for PCs. S3 is the more dependable sleep state we have used for many years. That command will give us a starting point on what we should advise.

results of powercfg /a are difficult to understand, I believe every modern PC system supports standby or sleep under W10, what's wrong with W11?

results of powercfg /a:
Following sleep states are available on this system:
Standby (S3)
Hibernate
Hybrid Sleep
Fast Startup

Followed by controversial report, when previous section all was available:
Following sleep states are not available on this system:
Standby (S1)
System Firmware doesn't support this standby state
Standby (S2)
System Firmware doesn't support this standby state
Standby (S0 Low Power Idle)
System Firmware doesn't support this standby state

You use S3. Modern standby (S0) is not available. Start testing this way.

Install any UEFI bios update from Gigabyte.

From the power menu, manually put the PC to sleep. Did it sleep? If yes does it wake with mouse/keyboard?
If no, remove any connected devices except keyboard, mouse, and monitor. Manually put to sleep again. What are the results?

From power menu PC goes to sleep.
Doesn't wake up with mouse.
Wakes up with keyboard - goes to login screen, when I'd expect a desktop or previous screen to sleep mode.
Old computer at home I use psw to log into computer but no psw required when waking up PC.

@essie If after doing the above and sleep still doesn't work correctly, turn off fast startup. Control Panel\Power Options\System Settings\Choose what power buttons do\Change settings that are currents unavailable\uncheck turn on fast startup and save changes.

Also to be on the safe side turn off hibernate. Open command prompt as administrator and type Powercfg -h off

Thanks for your quick advice. I'm going to initial problem No. 3 directly - all settings are default, new w11 installation, I have also attempted to restore defaults. But computer doesn't go to sleep.
Default turn off display is default - 5 minutes but display is still on after 2 hours.

Fast start up and hibernation are off. Display off is set to 2 minutes and sleep to 3 minutes but auto display off and auto sleep still doesn't work.
I continue troubleshooting tomorrow. Thanks.

Updated BIOS, no help.
Now I discovered that there is problem with device drivers which likely may be reason why sleep mode doesn't work.
Right now I see there still 2 missing device drivers.
PCI Device: VEN_8086 & DEV_7A24
SM Bus Controller: VEN_8086 & DEV_7A23

Appears that installation had failed because installation files are exe zip files which by W11 default are set to run 7zip to install.
And 7zip doesn't run properly with w11 interface. Can be run as standalone app but during installation 7zip ends with error with option to select that 7zip has installed correctly and install driver - but appears installation still doesn't finish.
I have struggled now several hours with mobo drivers but no easy solution found still.
Last I remember such weird Windows problems a 10 years ago perhaps?
Windows 7 and 10 install smoothly without problems.
Now to run driver installation I have to 1. unzip each downloaded driver file to zip exe 2. Unzip zip exe to uncompressed folder.
And installation fails - because I have already newer version - which likely is from Windows automated MS update, which doesn't work.

Does it means that W11 still isn't ready or isn't desktop computer oriented?

Did you build this system yourself? If so, did you install your drivers using Gigabyte Control Center as per Section 4-2 of your motherboard manual?
If so, are you saying Windows update overwrote those drivers with older ones?

It's always best to get drivers from the manufacturer. Allowing WU to manage drivers is not a good idea IMO. First use group policy to prevent WU from updating drivers. Enable or Disable Include Drivers with Windows Updates in Windows 11 Tutorial

Then use Gigabyte Control Center's Update Center to see if it will straighten out the drivers. I've never owned a Gigabyte board myself so can't tell you the steps, but they are laid out in your motherboard manual..

If that fails see if Intel Driver & Support Assist tool will fix the drivers. Download Intel Drivers and Software

If still unresolved, you can try forcing the drivers. You have to first extract the drivers from the exe to a folder. Our own @Try3 laid out the how-to on the MS forum.

Yes, new PC I gathered muself as always. I used Gigabyte CC. GCC may have been installed 7zip, which doesn't interoperate properly with Windows 7.
I check this PC in few hours but it feels like GCC installation is envolved and culprit to driver installation.
Then I read also links you provided. Thanks.

essie,

I noticed your comment about 7Zip in Windows 11.

I use WinZip successfully in Windows 11. They still provide a trial version that you could use to get the current job done [extract the contents of the exe into a folder] even if you intend to return to 7Zip later on.

Best of luck,
Denis

Sleep state problem solved.
If I disconnected only mouse or keyboard one at a time, computer sleep mode still was not available.
If I removed both at same time computer went into sleep mode normally.
Replaced both and sleep mode is available.
I checked mouse keyboard pair with other computer and no problem there. Both are general HP mouse and Dell keyboard.
Looks like a weird hardware problem.
Thanks for your support.
