New machine. WIN 11 PRO. Cpu passes prime 95. memory passes memtest 86, gpu passes furmark for 30 mins, machine overall hits average for specs on timespy with 0 overclocking.

Audio pops, particularly after hibernation but does so before too, often. Experienced as pops/crackling on wired usb headphones and audio dropouts on wireless.
Rolled bios back from f23 to f22, no change. set power plan to performance no change. reinstalled windows and MB software, and installed windows on and mb software on second drive , it appears on both. Any advice appreciated.

13700kf, 128gb ddr4, asus 3090 tuf, 2x m.2 ssd. Full build list in profile.

CONCLUSION
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Your system appears to be having trouble handling real-time audio and other tasks. You are likely to experience buffer underruns appearing as drop outs, clicks or pops. One or more DPC routines that belong to a driver running in your system appear to be executing for too long. One problem may be related to power management, disable CPU throttling settings in Control Panel and BIOS setup. Check for BIOS updates.
LatencyMon has been analyzing your system for 0:11:16 (h:mm:ss) on all processors.

CPU SPEED
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Reported CPU speed (WMI): 340 MHz
Reported CPU speed (registry): 3418 MHz

Note: reported execution times may be calculated based on a fixed reported CPU speed. Disable variable speed settings like Intel Speed Step and AMD Cool N Quiet in the BIOS setup for more accurate results.

MEASURED INTERRUPT TO USER PROCESS LATENCIES
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The interrupt to process latency reflects the measured interval that a usermode process needed to respond to a hardware request from the moment the interrupt service routine started execution. This includes the scheduling and execution of a DPC routine, the signaling of an event and the waking up of a usermode thread from an idle wait state in response to that event.

Highest measured interrupt to process latency (µs): 8298.80
Average measured interrupt to process latency (µs): 11.375351

Highest measured interrupt to DPC latency (µs): 524.0
Average measured interrupt to DPC latency (µs): 2.229185

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
REPORTED ISRs
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Interrupt service routines are routines installed by the OS and device drivers that execute in response to a hardware interrupt signal.

Highest ISR routine execution time (µs): 132.638970
Driver with highest ISR routine execution time: Wdf01000.sys - Kernel Mode Driver Framework Runtime, Microsoft Corporation

Highest reported total ISR routine time (%): 0.000713
Driver with highest ISR total time: Wdf01000.sys - Kernel Mode Driver Framework Runtime, Microsoft Corporation

Total time spent in ISRs (%) 0.000713

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
REPORTED DPCs
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
DPC routines are part of the interrupt servicing dispatch mechanism and disable the possibility for a process to utilize the CPU while it is interrupted until the DPC has finished execution.

Highest DPC routine execution time (µs): 2241.895553
Driver with highest DPC routine execution time: nvlddmkm.sys - NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 531.61 , NVIDIA Corporation

Highest reported total DPC routine time (%): 0.009849
Driver with highest DPC total execution time: nvlddmkm.sys - NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 531.61 , NVIDIA Corporation

DPC count (execution time 250-500 µs): 0
DPC count (execution time 500-10000 µs): 232
DPC count (execution time 1000-2000 µs): 3
DPC count (execution time 2000-4000 µs): 3
DPC count (execution time >=4000 µs): 0

_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
REPORTED HARD PAGEFAULTS
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Hard pagefaults are events that get triggered by making use of virtual memory that is not resident in RAM but backed by a memory mapped file on disk. The process of resolving the hard pagefault requires reading in the memory from disk while the process is interrupted and blocked from execution.

NOTE: some processes were hit by hard pagefaults. If these were programs producing audio, they are likely to interrupt the audio stream resulting in dropouts, clicks and pops. Check the Processes tab to see which programs were hit.

Process with highest pagefault count: nortonsecurity.exe

Total number of hard pagefaults 1578
Hard pagefault count of hardest hit process: 1253
Number of processes hit: 22

Welcome to the forum. That is one heck of a system you've got there. Congrats.

I'm sure one of the hardware guys will answer you soon. I am definitely NOT a hardware gal, but in the meantime I would be looking at the obvious-the driver.
I am assuming you are using onboard sound which is Realtek® ALC1220-VB CODEC, is that right? Did you download the driver from gigabyte or did you let windows update install the driver? Always use your mobo manufacturer driver.
Also you might find this discussion helpful.

Thank you, i need the ram etc for work in unreal engine 5 and houdini. At the same time it cant play a youtube video without audio issues XD. Its frustrating to put it mildly. The reaktek driver was installed via the gigabyte app center and version name is 6.0.9313.1 which corresponds to the DCH driver version name here. Is it possible that is not rthe best of the three there even if it is newest?1685002568305.png

Ok , i changed realrek driver to the second one on list. and problem remained. Interestingly i wondered why i never heard any issues during my original timespy runs, so i fired up warframe and them timespy and ran latencymon with each of them running, and both times it it showed a result like this.1685006255172.png
So i disabled speedshift in bios
but stop the game and after a few mins there there are spikes like this and audio issues. 1685006657069.png

update, i used a program called Quick CPU to completely disable core parking. The result in last 10 mins is no audio dropouts in youtube, with latencymon showing the first screenshot most of the time, and then peaking like shot 2 and 3 occasionally. Do ye think this means core parking was the issue?

Do ye think this means core parking was the issue?
Now see, you've taught me something. I had never heard about core parking before. (told you I wasn't a hardware gal) Whether it continues to fix your problem or not, that's a good find anyway.
According to this article, when core parking is enabled, during heavy audio processing audio can drop in and out when Windows is parking and unparking CPU cores. Core parking

Though that entire website is dedicated to help musicians optimize their Windows PCs to process audio to avoid issues like crackles, dropouts, audio glitches, & high latency, if your issue comes back there are a lot of other things on that site you can try.

Ok i will keep this thread open for a few days because i want to make sure i have solution. Unparking all cores helped and for time i had it done audio issues vanished but it clearly wasn't the cause based on what i found after. There was a massive difference gained by disabling hardware accelerated gpu scheduling, something which is apparently supposed to reduce latency but boy howdy it sure was doing the opposite. Results after 17 mins compared to 3-4 mins in previous shots. Note this is with cores reparked.

I have a laptop with intel onboard GPU (iGPU) and Nvidia RTX 3070ti (dGPU). I also get pops and clicks and audio dropouts.
If I disable the dgpu and use only the onboard intel the problem is solved. So in my case Nvidia driver is responsible for this.
If you look on nvidia site you will see that for almost all newer drivers they mention high latency problem in the open issues
section. Here is open issues for the latest Nvidia Driver:

Open Issues

  • Toggling HDR on and off in-game causes game stability issues when non-native resolution is used. [3624030]
  • Monitor may briefly flicker on waking from display sleep if DSR/DLDSR is enabled. [3592260]
  • [GeForce RTX 4090] Watch Dogs 2 may display flickering when staring at the sky [3858016]
  • Increase in DPC latency observed in Latencymon [3952556]
  • Applying GeForce Experience Freestyle filters cause games to crash [4008945]
