New Microsoft Authenticator app version for Android and iOS - May 15

Two factor authentication (TFA) is easy, convenient, and secure when you use Microsoft Authenticator. Use your phone, not your password, to log into your Microsoft account. Just enter your username, then approve the notification sent to your phone. Your fingerprint, face ID, or PIN will provide a second layer of security in this two step verification process. After you’ve signed in with two factor authentication (TFA), you’ll have access to all your Microsoft products and services, such as Outlook, OneDrive, Office, and more.

Yeah, another crazy move. They’re trying to push passkeys. I moved over to Enpass.

My apologies, but I'm a little confused...

I use the MS Auth app to generate codes for some sites as a form of 2FA. Do I need to move those off of the app or will that still work? What about my MS account?

Thanks......

What about my MS account?
I plan on still using the app for my Microsoft accounts 2FA
Other sites that use 2FA should also continue to work with 2FA (one time passwords). It’s just the username & password side of authenticator that’s leaving (that I understand and what I am aware of)

Just ensure that your passwords are backed up somewhere. If you like Edge, you can synchronise your Edge passwords with Microsoft Authenticator so long as you do it before the August deadline.

I am officially deprecating MS Edge and MS Authenticator. This is why MS is really annoying their customers.

I use RoboForm as my password manager, but its authenticator for passkeys and passphrases only works on some sites. There is no universal standard for passkeys/passphrases and this will slow adoption.

I don't think there is yet any authenticator that works on all sites.

Yet to have an issue with Enpass. Transferred nearly 300 logins from 1Password, around 65 of them use 2FA one time passwords, I’m loving it, but it’s not free.

I’m sure you do realize it—just like everyone who comments in a public forum doesn't necessarily need every statement redirected back at them. Sometimes it's okay to let a clarification just be a clarification.
